Managed to pick up 10 Screen Protectors from an auction site costing 99p They seem pretty good easy to apply and after a day or two not even noticeable. After having a look around online you can pay anywhere from £5 to £55 (Roughly) Do people purchase expensive ones and are they worth that extra bit of dish If so why?

i did tend to find the cheaper ones after a period of time will start to look shabby ( marks and scratches is appear
i have had an SGP anti fingerprint on mine for about 6 months easy, its still like new

The cheap ones aren't very resistant to scratches at all. I bought a pack of 10 for 99p like you and have been through 4 of them now in as any months. They only take a couple of days to start picking up marks and within a couple of week it becomes very difficult to see anything on the screen in sunlight due to the huge amount of hairline scratches.

I now have a slightly more expensive one (although not branded..just a generic one off eBay) and after a week it doesn't have a single mark on it.

I'd highly recommend spending the extra money on a decent one..you'll save yourself a lot of hassle having to keep fitting new ones over and over again.

I buy probably the same 99p protectors, though I make sure they have seperate cutouts for the camera and speaker instead of 1 big cut out. That's just me being picky though. Yeah, the cheap ones pick up scratches, but I'm more than happy to pay £1 every few months and re-apply them once they start getting marked. More expensive ones might be less resistant to scratches but it doesn't bother me very much. After a while though my case starts to pull up the edges slightly, then it's time for a new one.

I've got used to applying them too, can do it pretty much in 1 swift motion now.

I use Terrapin ones from some auction site, and they cost about £2.50 or so for 6. I've used numerous ones in the past, Martin Fields being the most expensive, and these are pretty much as thick and are pretty much perfectly cut. The Terrapin protectors are by a country mile the best ones that I have ever used.

Interesting comments, Well I have been rocking some hardshell cases from auction sites also a Jack Daniels rubber case for the past couple of months.. Just bought a bumper case really do like it although the cheap screen protectors are awful... So Im definitely going to look around to try and find a decent one.

The ones from the apple shop are very good. My 3gs had one on it for 2 years, it's pretty expensive at £12 but worth every penny

Agreed, I've had these and they are matt in texture which I like and once down last for months, the one I have now has been on for over a year

Iv had one i got with a case on since i got my 4s, no marks or anything and still holding strong. It was a decent case so mabe the protector was good too.

The ones I use for both my iPhone and iPad are the SGP super oleo phobic screen protectors. Application is smooth and the look and protection are great, much better than the Zagg ones which tended to have an orange peel effect.

I always try to pimp these screen protectors when I see a thread, but try Terrapin ones from an auction site. Dirt cheap, and the quality is great full stop, let alone for the price. I've tried everything, and genuinely think that these are the best. They are not your cheap and flimsy pieces.

My advice is seriously DON'T BOTHER !

It's only going to reduce the overall quality of your iPhone. Having owned every previous incarnation and always protecting with a screen protector, i decided on my latest 4S, to not bother, since the glass is apparently scratch resistant.. Admitedly I was nervous at the time, thinking would this be the costliest decision I've ever made, but since October, my iPhone has only been protected by a bumper case, and I can safely say its been the BEST decision I've made.. I get to appreciate the true optical quality of the glass front and back, after, what's it been now, 6months of use.. There is not so much as even a hairline scratch on either side of my glass. The phone could still pass as brand new.

The screen protectors I've used in the past, on my 4, 3G-S, 3G all had screen protectors and you could always tell. The softer plastic would always get harline scratches and you'd have to replace every few months to keep the glass optimal. I've used a bumper since the 4, so had to run with a protector front and back, but on my 4S, nothing front or back and the phone goes everywhere with me, and not so much as even a light scratch. Obviously I've taken precautions such as never just throwing my phone anywhere i want to, but with the screen protectors being so delicate and easily scatchable, you had to take those precautions anyway.

As above, don't bother if you have a 4 or above.

oh and edit, i also let my 6 yr old play with my phone on a regular basis.. If its stood the test of time in the hands of a six yr old, then no adult should have a problem.

Walked into the Apple Store, ended up walking out with two of Apple's Screen protectors £12 odd for two unfortunately they do not provide protection for the back of the iPhone but I have stuck a cheap one on the back. Would I recommend this quite pricey screen protector? The answer is Yes... The screen protector however applied has basically no air bubbles or in my case no air bubbles what so ever, it has a matte finish which reduces glare when out in direct sunlight also it barely needs wiping it dodges finger marks, grease etc for fun.

This has opened my eyes and again reverts back to the saying.. "You (Usually) get what you pay for!"

i will say the cheaper ones are good enuf, although they do get scratched up quickly, but they are only like 10p each

Having used both Apples screen protection and 10 for 99p I would say for 10p they protect you screen yes but the experience of having a screen protector is awful in my opinion and since making the plunge will never go back to cheap screen protection and would say that they are worth the investment afterall £6 each for a screen you look at daily?

As long as you're sensible, this is the best advice. By sensible, I mean don't put the phone in the same pocket as your keys!

Im pretty careful with anything I own, although accidents do happen! for example my old phone slipped out of my pocket and slid across a bumpy car park the screen was dented, scratched ruined.. until I peeled the screen protector off and there was 1 or 2 minor marks (It was a huge impact and slide)
