iPhone V2 speculation...

I personally think it will be hard to unlock this version. Apple and 02 will have learnt from their mistakes, and you will have no choice but to sign up to a contract in store.

As far as I'm aware, the software is the same for both versions - the v2 software betas that have already been cracked apparently contain the drivers for the 3g chipsets when it was stripped to bits.

Offering the phone subsidised is more likely to encourage people to take out the contract, and apple are purported to be receiving a larger share of the contract revenue than before under this new arrangement.

Im not doubting that the software is unlockable but the fact is you won't be able to get your hands on it without a contract therefore eliminating the point of it being unlockable.

I guess it is all speculation and hopefully tomorrow we will find out.

Pay as you go, problem solved! Doubt apple would be likely to get much revenue out of PAYG sales (if any at all). So they probably wouldn't be bothered whether it went O2 PAYG or was unlocked - could mean a bit of a price hike from £269 though!

PAYG will be exceptionally priced. I would expect it to be around £6-700. Usually are for new releases on PAYG.

I'll be looking elsewhere if that's the case

Dont blame you! ;)

I'm hoping that Apple would have also learnt a lesson with pricing. They must have realised that the whole, inter alia, factor for the unlocking was the stupidly priced contracts. Surely if they released the phone with a sensible, well priced contract that can suit any pocket, it will kill the unlock market and therefore strengthen Apples position?

Personally, if the phone comes subsidised with a competitive contract then I would take the plunge; provided the hardware and 3G service was up to it.

This would also mean that v1's on the bay may creep up in price as people wise up?

I've gone from being happy about the new's tomorrow to being slightly glum .......doh..!

I know what you mean.

Personally, holding on to my iPhone, I think was a good move. The chances of it being more restrictive with the v2 means mine should hold its value.

I know Justin sold his for around £250 iirc.

Yep it was £250 - We'll see, if not I'll grab a v1 off the bay within the next day or so before pricing madness sets in! :)

I would wait, see what the situation is then if needed get one off the Bay quick.

If not wait for v2 prices to come down.

I hope I am proved wrong, I really do!

Yup that's right, although they reason I sold it before the release was because I reckon that after tomorrow the V1s are going to be going for peanuts on eBay.

Which should be true unless they make you pay mega bucks for a PAYG v2 handset and the price of v1's may rise slightly?

Ahhh I'm going to bed and hoping things turn out good!

Until tomorrow chaps!!! :D

Flash is a no no. I would have thought at least.

Good looking photos. Pretty good fake.

I hope there is a white version.

Nah, they've been confirmed fakes, one reason was it's the same box some other phone comes in and the reflection is badly photoshopped in another.

That looks pretty real to me, even down to the "Do not open until 10th June" and "Subject to the Non Disclosure Agreement" bit.

I'd bet that is real.

And also that label is on the bottom, over the stamp. Apparently all shipments have to have to have labels put on the sides.

Lastly, like when the 'fat Nano' got leaked, they would have been ripped down from the net at Apples request by now, these pictures have been floating around for a while now.
