Well I wanna know how long we are looking at for an unlocked iphone to come out, I am not changing my contract to 02, they're a bloody rip off for contracts and don't do anything with enough usage on the iphone as far as I can see (use about 1000 mins and 2500 texts a month).

So I wanna keep my voda contract and get me an iphone, anyone know if there is going to be a sim free one released soon?

some guy came through to me in work yesterday asking for the internet settings on the iphone, I had to tell him that we dont support the iphone on our network :( and couldnt send him the settings...(vodafone btw)

Instead if he'd used his brain and done a little searching around the internet he'd find all the settings he needs  :D

Apple/T-Mobile have just lost an Injunction against Vodafone in Germany due to anti-competitive laws. There are calls for Iphone to open up there. The same may happen here if Vodafone get successful.
In France Iphone are already not allowed to sell locked to network phones due to their laws.

I think its a shame by Apple to fix prices. They are just as bad as Microsoft, if not worse.
Competition should be allowed.

you dont work at luton airport do ya lol.

ok im guessing your saying buy from france. I would love to, but not too hot on french websites and dont really fancy a day trip over as the missus would know what i was upto in a flash lol

The networks each have exclusive rights to sell the iPhone in their own country, for O2 it's 5 years so you won't see it being sold by the other networks anytime soon. Some of the networks have to sell it SIM free but theres no rules on pricing, so they'll all go for min £600! If you want a SIM free iphone your only real option is to get an unlocked one off the bay or unlock one yourself when the unlock becomes available (there's a bit of uncertainty whether the latest iPhones can be unlocked, we should know within a couple of weeks though). I took a dive and got an unlocked one from ebay, works perfectly :)

...you send ~85 messages a day? what the hell do they all say?!?!

Try working for a company that doesn't need a general manager in day to day running, it gets boring.
Got one off ebay now, if they can sell them on ebay why don't they sell them in the shops?

I really don't know why people complain about £269 being too much for the iPhone. Sure it is a lot of money, but people are suggesting the N95 8GB as an alternative which costs nearly £500 PaYG.

The K850i even costs £299 PaYG.

but you're forced into a minimum £40/month contract with the iphone iirc, comparing that to the cost of a phone where you aren't obliged to pay a single penny a month really isn't a fair comparison.

I got £100 cash BACK with my N95, which makes paying nearly £300 for a phone that really isn't functionally that much better seem like a painful alternative.

Its business as usual with apple imo, style > substance.
