iPod and Album art

Go stand in the corner. You can come back here when you have a Mac, n00b!
I do - I have a nice Macbook Pro that I bought earlier this year (15", the new one with the LED backlight, and glossy screen) but my music collection is still on my PC as it's massive.

Am I forgiven - can I come out from the corner now? :)

Pics in the show off your hardware thread with bread tbh. :p ;)

Actially heres a PT2 Question seein gas im asking

Im getting an iMac later in the year, I assume if I transferr my Ipod tracks to an external HD, it will be detectable on the iMac.

Tho am I right in saying that I will have to format my iPod again to work on the Mac?

(been planning this for months and having to work out all the little things when "crossing over")

Should be fine putting your library onto an external HDD as long as it's in a filesystem that the mac can read (FAT32 unless you get some software to make the mac read NTFS).

You will have to format the iPod but it shouldn't be a problem.

I've just put my whole CD collection onto my computer and scanned in every album cover manually. :o It was a lot of work but it means a) All the albums match my CD's and b) they are guaranteed highest resolution possible.

I used my Windows formatted (FAT32) iPod for a while on my MBP before I formatted it a 'Mac' one.

And yes, as long as the external HD can be read by the iMac you'll be able to copy and paste it over fine, that's exactly how I mived nearly 30Gb of music over.

Panzerbjorn, are you sure OS X can't read NTFS? It reads stuff from my pc fine when connected to it. :s Could just be me being silly though. :o

Okay, so, I get a External HDD (Is there a particular one/ make that stuits more, be dammned if im paying Apple for one of theirs!), and format to FAT32, I will be able to shift my files over (4gb at a time? or will it setup new files when it needs too?).

Plug it into the iMac it should be able to read/write ok?

There's no limit to how much you can copy to it at a time, just the 4Gb file size limit, so, if you happen to have a music track over 4Gb it won't have it. :)

PS. Check this. :)

lol, i like my quality.

What I meant was in term of each files size as im saving stuff lol.
I think I have about 108GB of music on an Internal at the moment....hence my Cover art wos lol.

Ill look at the link.

edit: sorry so I just ahev to setup up lots of files and drag and drop about 3.8 GB at a time worth of tracks?

Anyway it will jsut create new folders as it needs them? (im guessing no...but I like to have threads of hope in my life)

Nope, drag them all, it'll take a bit of time, but it will do them all.

It will re-create the current file structure that you copy over. :p

Something wrong with owning over 80GB of lossless music? ;):p

The exact figure is actually.. 104.56GB, and counting.

The withdrawal was more for the unwillingness to spend a good evening sorting out someone else's album art. ;)

Although, how many songs are in that collection?

18,365 songs.

All legitimately ripped from CDs (actually been getting individual albums to replace my 'best of' cds) so it's still growing.
