Right, Hi guys,

I've got an iPod classic, under 1 year old, I've finally had enough of the poor bass it produces, with and without the equaliser on.
Its nothing to do with the EQ, or my uprated Sennheiser CX300 headphones, its just poor quality of all iPod classics, I did a google search and many people have the same problem.

My question is what can I do? Will Apple replace it? Refund it? Try to sort it out?

I've searched this forum and it came up with nothing of the same topic, which is suprising as there are a number of audiophiles on here I believe....

PS my Sony Ericsson mobile phone > this iPod's sound quality.

I was very shocked to find my Ipod 5G was worse than my K750i. Even messing around with the EQ didn't produce that much of a result.

Err no? I didnt pay £160 for an item so I would sell it on at a later date for less than half its original price. Thats really dumb. Seriously. Come on...

I wouldn't call selling something you don't like to buy something better dumb. What is dumb is buying an mp3 player notorious for having poor sound quality then complaining about it having poor sound quality lol.

Thats hardly dumb, how did I know it would be poor quality sound? It costs 160, I and most other people would expect it to be perfect. But no?
How can you call me dumb for that? Seriously?

EDIT: If you got nothing else good to say please stay out of my thread, I dont need this, All I want to know is how can I solve this problem!

I usually research things before I spend a lot of money on it. A small amount of research would show you that they have poor sound quality.

edit: I don't think this is even a problem, iPod's just have poor sound quality. Replacing the player is really the only thing you can do. Try and get a refund, I guess.

Also, if you go into iTunes, equaliser, turn up the 'pre amp'
This makes the bass really crappy, just like on the iPod. Shame there is no 'pre amp' setting on the ipod.......... even if there was, the volume would be very very low.
I shall see what Apple store says.

Why hasnt anything been done about it, apple cant just sell these POS for £160 a piece. Its not on.

It is your headphones the cx300 are budget phones.

The bass on my ipod classic is great when I use it with mylarone x3i and goldringring dr150 and sony ex85's.

cx300 are known to have dodgy bass that can just disappear and some are even fakes.

I set eq on mine to RnB and the bass is sweet.

Starting a thread, hardly makes it 'your' thread, what a ridiculous statement.

If you buy a product without first researching it, then find it inadequate, you can only blame yourself imho.

£19 they cost, and near £40 in stores, but I dont think expensive headphones will sort my problem out. Because I use the same headphones on my sony ericson, and play the same music and the bass is amazing. even on the mega bass setting. So its the 'ipod classics', not my headphones.
I even hooked the ipod upto my friends 105db cerwin vega speaker setup and its still the same, very poor, distorted bass.......

I've not been impressed with the iPods since the 5G hence I'm sticking with my trusty 3rd Gen.

I'd argue the CX300 arn't budget headphones - when new they were a good chunk more expensive before the web e-tailers started discounting them. They're pretty well balanced compared to most in that price range, I certainly far prefer the the sound to that of my previous Sony EX70s which had enourmous flabby bass and tinkly treble - just the thing for the tube or a plane but plain annoying the rest of the time with a decent source.

I just purchased the Cmoy headphone amp from juice2214, I'll try this out and see if it helps :)
Hopefully it does :)
