I wouldn't call selling something you don't like to buy something better dumb. What is dumb is buying an mp3 player notorious for having poor sound quality then complaining about it having poor sound quality lol.
They can and will. A company is perfectly entitled to charge what it likes for its products... if people are dumb enough to keep buying them because they're a fashion item, that's good fortune to the company.
I had an iPod 5g and it did the job of giving me something to listen to, but when it (predictably) broke after 2 years I didn't bother replacing it. My phone holds the playlists I actually listen to with much better quality.
Really, selling it isn't such a bad idea. The longer you leave it the less you'll get for it, but apple aren't going to refund it because you don't like it - you need to get over that daydream pretty quick. Sell it on and buy something better or leave it on your shelf and buy something better.
For me, I'd rather cut my losses, sell the thing and get something else. If my phone is anything to go by, get a sony.
mmm ipod classics are are regarded quite highly by some people especially gen 5 that have the wolfson dac but some think gen 6 are good as well as there is a shorter signal path, for a start you dont have to use the inferior headphone out you can get a lod (line out dock) this will bypass the internal amp and let you use your own as regards bass get some ultrasone hfi 780 like mine or a lot cheaper ksc75 px100 or porta pros.
I use the fiio e5 amp its £17 ish deivered and has a bass boost button sounds amazing with my cowon and ultrasones
or for a lot more money http://www.redwineaudio.com/iMod.html edit they only convert 4th and 5th gen
I've just registered onto head fi and they say the 6th ipod(what i've got) is an excellent player in standard form -quote Red Wine Audio
