iRacing

Nah. I got a refund and they won't allow me to re-buy it :p A friend is letting me share his account till I can invest again.

Nordschleife, Nurburgring GP, Historic Spa, Historic Silverstone and a couple more. There is also quite a few cars that you don't get access to.

Been reading this thread for ages and eventually thought why not.

I have an old xbox 360 wheel and pedals and low and behold it works on the PC.

Signed up for the 1 for 3 months deal in iRacing and it was tough working it out, but got there eventually.

Only have the 2 basic free cars, mazda and the nascar one.

My 1st race, took it steady on the oval nascar and let everyone crash, came 10th :)

2nd race, was in 4th and big crash in front of me and days of thunder said foot down and go through the middle. LOL, ended up on my roof and quit after 2 mins in the pits :)

Questions.

1. To set up 3 monitors, I assume you do this in windows and not in game ?
2. The basic nascar, can you actually change any settings other than wheel sensitivity ?

I assume the more cars you get the more you can alter ?

Loving it so far

I don't have a triple screen set up, but I know there are options within the game to set it up.

I assume you're still driving rookie races, in which case the setup is fixed.

To do triple screen you need to set it up in windows, essentially via whatever method (eyefinity, nvidia surround or triplehead2go) you end up running a desktop resolution of something like 5760x1200 as if you had a single monitor, then from within the game you set it up with a few details and it sorts out the angle of the side ones etc.

Rookie races are fixed, as you go up through the system you get more and more setup options, although in the NASCAR series at least once you get to the trucks the setup options are the same as the gen6, it's more pronounced on the road side, but the trucks have more setup options than the late model etc.

thanks all :)

What would be the best tips for configring the base MX5 ? Not much options to play with, but some pointers to get me going would be greatfully recieved.

When you use the MX5 for D licence races you can change the set up.

I don't bother though.

I just adjust the amount of fuel depending on the race length.

I think you can only gain a few tenths on the base set up if you are very very consistent.

thanks, worth knowing not to waste my time with it on the mx5 then.

Some drivers change the tyre pressures as well, but at the end of the day it's a normal road car fitted with a roll cage. So you're not going to get much more out of it by changing the set up. You might make it more suitable to your driving style by changing the set up, but it won't make you 2 seconds faster.

Right guys, i know its probably been asked before, but would like some advice on new wheel options, as some of you may or may not know my G25 has been dead for a while now and i may be able to get a whole new setup next week - If i do its around £500

So thats T500Rs and the shifter money, but any others i should look at? 911 GT3 RS wheel and clubsport pedals and th8?

Ideally id like something very much like the g25, so seperate shifter with h and seq shifts.

The best advice is learn the car, theres nothing wrong with the base Mx5 setup its one of the best base setups on the game, myself and some of the worlds fastest Iracing Mx5 racers all use the basesetup. In most league and official races.

You may need a slight click on camber here or there, and a click on tire pressures depending on track, race distance, fuel load etc. a slight raise of the car if you are running a shed load of fuel thats it..
But if you are running a race less than 45 minutes long in the MX5 use the base setup. I use it everywhere. When I did race the Mx5 I was pretty fast in it. So take it from me.

I have a T500 and the TH8 shifter.

Getting a TH8 shifter is a no brainer. It's leagues ahead of the G25 and anything Fanatec offer.

So now your budget is £400 for a wheel and pedals

The T500 wheel and pedals are probably the best bang for buck compared to similar products in Fanatecs range. The pedals are decent and there's an official load cell mod in development and due for imminent release.

Some of the issues with early versions have pretty much been sorted and NO COMPETITOR HINTING PLEASE.

If you were prepared to forgo the shifter than maybe look at the Club Sport pedals V2 and either the Porsche 911 GT3 RS V2 Wheel or Forza Motorsport CSR Wheel.

Money no object is the Club Sport pedals V2 and the ClubSport Wheel Base and either the BMW GT rim or the Formula rim or both.

I'm not far off WR times and I use the stock MX5 setup. You can tweak the setup to reduce rotation but I like oversteer.

Mx5 is quickest with close to maximum negative rear camber, requires more skill to control but it helps rotatation massively.

The base setup is very understeery and conservative and the high brake bias also increases braking distance required. 78 bb ftw

Sweet thought that would be the case, id never be able to get the Clubsport wheel, although it looks immense - On doing a lot of research its looking like the T500RS plus the TH8 is the best choice for an all round package, Load cell is something ill be having once its out, Since logitech hasnt released any info on a new wheel the market is getting smaller for top end wheels.
