Taken me until now with the wheel to beat my pad time around Charlotte Speedway using the MX5.. so far I've managed a 1.23.939 during a race. Finished last but one because someone shunted me in a braking zone but no bother!

lol well there you are, already better than me so I'd class that as a success (though beating me doesn't take much ;) )

what wheel ya got? :)

Some cheapo Saitek wheel from when I used to race Live for Speed! Its not very good, no force feedback etc but will do for now!

Just realised your a fellow Welshie! :p

ahhh nice, well we all gotta start somewhere ;) mine has a bungee cord instead of force feedback lol

and yeah! I did just notice that earlier too! nice beemer ;)

shall have to get everyone on TS for this race sometime! that and it's funny when more welsh people come on.... the english don't like it ;) best is when there's a load of us in a channel and some remark is made about the welsh.. and then occasionally can point out they at that time the english are actually outnumbered by the welsh on TS xD and so the **** flinging beings haha! :D

Wow

Just completed a 70 minute race, started 9th and finished 8th.

Should've been 5th but I had a PC meltdown and my screen was stuttering like mad under braking into Canada Corner. For some reason I had 100% CPU usage and my braking input wasn't being recognised fast enough so I end up in the gravel. That dropped me down to 12th, but I fought my way back to 7th, but made a mistake into turn 5 and lost a place on the last lap.

Had a great fight for 7th for about 10 laps after my CPU induced off, its was good, clean and fair racing.

Really enjoyed it.

Sweat was dripping off me when I'd finished, also got well into the 2:06's and promoted to A licence as well.

For information I started with 19.2 gallons, pitted at the end of lap 16 and added 19.2 gallons. I completed 33 laps and crossed the line with 2.4 gallons in the tank.

Ok do we have any AMD/ATi users in here, i seem to be having eye strain issues, never before have i had this in any other game nor before in iracing, but it looks like things are not sharp enough despite everything on max.

Ive got an Ati 6850 1gb, overclocked to 875/1145, currently everything at max and FPS seems to stay at 84 no matter how many cars are on track, but 3-4 laps and my eyes are buggered to say the least - not sure if AA - AF is working as i cant tell any difference when switching - and the little box next to AA is greyed out, but it shouldnt be - anyone have any ideas?

Damn addictive game.. Still on the MX5 series and keep doing Charlotte Speedway. Just qualified 3rd with a 1.22.5xx. Wish my races weren't full of retards spamming into me on corners mind! Anyway to race other MX5 races?

You can run in the Grand Touring Cup in the MX5, you'll need a D licence to enter though, or Rookie 4.0.

Sorry probably a really stupid question... but

I am now in a D licence but and it says to qualify for promotion I must do 4 races or time trials in the D Class. However when I go to view the events they all say practice only or content required. ??

I suppose its going to take a while to grind through the rookie licence? One irritating part of this game is getting penalty's when other people crash into you! Last night I was in third, guy come up the side of me and smashed into me. I was out of the race, he carried on and I ended up with 4x on the top bar!!

The best way to get out of rookies is to concentrate simply on avoiding trouble, get consistent enough so you don't get any off-tracks or spins and then just avoid everyone, very quickly you'll become eligible to race in the higher series.

SR being non-fault is ultimately the only way it can work, and I'm a firm believer that whether you're at fault or not there are only a tiny number of incidents where you couldn't have done things differently to avoid the incident.

The exception being if it was clearly an intentional wreck, in that case use the protest system.

Some of the D licence series will be using tracks that aren't included in the base content, so you'll need to buy it to do races, TT's and practice.

If you are D now then to get to the next licence you have a minimum participation requirement (MPR) which is 4 races or TT's.

If it says practice only then you have the content but not the licence requirement.

Just did a bit more GT3 practice, really hate practicing, tempted to just do a race and see how it goes :p

Got down to a 2:05.375, on the 8th lap starting with 24.6 gallons. Then I screwed up and crashed so decided to drop the fuel and do a 'quick' lap, 2:05.240, that was worth it...

I found that that setup, with low fuel, just understeered too much, guess for qually if I could be bothered it could do with some tweaks, or I might just run half-fuel or so and do a run to get somewhere in the low 2:05's which will probably be enough...

Well you can't complete a 70 minute race without stopping, so try practicing with around 18-19 gallons with your setup and see if that's any better.

It's not high fuel that's the problem, it's low fuel, although part of that could just be first time running this car at this track with low fuel.

From reading the forums, and doing what little practice I've done, I think the quickest route is a long first stint (so max fuel), that way you save time in the pit stop, more time than you lose by running slightly heavier at the start

Just doing some more practice now, again starting with a full tank (meant 26.4 gallons earlier), instantly into the 5's now and a new best 'with fuel' of 2:05.252, optimal now into the 4's :)

Thanks! I had a look again today and I think I have to be D but with a 4.0 SR.

I can never make my mind up as to if qualifying is worth doing.

Sometimes starting from the back and passing the drivers that spin out or crash is sometimes easier than starting up front and having the faster guys, who didn't qualify, making banzai overtaking moves and crashing into you.

In the race I did yesterday I got hit from behind by someone driving like a tool, he was quicker than me, but couldn't be bothered to wait for a proper opportunity to pass. So he basically just punted me off, fortunately it was a square hit from behind so I didn't get any damage and managed to keep control as I rejoined the track.

Do you get that sort of thing in the higher splits?
