iRacing

I have the late model as I'm gunna use that to move up from d class, I could never race oval all the time, road is were its at.

I can't see it keeping me interested for long,my plan is if I don't like the track for the radical like laguna seca then I can just jump on a oval, or if I've got a spare hour and I'm up to speed in the radical...

Well, I spent over a hour last night practicing in the carb cup at daytona all we were doing was bump drafting great fun, its hard to be the pushing car tho..

Was only getting about 70fps tho at daytona in the dark....

Think I need to turn the ffb up for that car its only on 6 for the radical...

lol Fanatec's soon i wouldn't hold your breathe :D

A week with my clubsport pedals in iRacing

I bought them as I thought if they make no difference to my sim driving I can sell them and not make much of a loss as they sell well.

coming from G25 pedals first impressions where omg where's the brakes as you have to apply a bit more pressure to get them to work and out of the box I had to pretty much jump up and down on them to stop, thankfully after a few minutes messing with the adjustable knob on the back I found a place where I like it and started to learn how to brake again as it's a steep learning curve.

I was well off my pace by usually .5 to 1 second I was not happy but I had read you had to stick with it so I have been.

lap after lap of practise I could see my lap times dropping now after a week I have blown my personal bests out of the water by over half a second on the tracks I know and I thought I’ll give the g25 pedals another try...

I plugged them in and set them up now let’s go... over braking like mad for the first 10 minutes I quickly became accustomed to my old faithful pedals and try and try and try I couldn’t get near my personal best... closest I got was .4 of a second out, the reason...

I believe the accelerator on the clubsports is just more manageable when you feel the car wanting to break away you can lift a tiny bit to tame it on the g25 pedals it's hard to lift a little as they have such a short throw and I believe a lower resolution than the clubsports, once you lift on the g25's you lose a lot of momentum as you just lift too much with the slightest movement on the pedal you could probably learn this but on the clubsports it's just much easier as the throw is longer and a slight lift is just that a very slight lift

but all is not lost for the G25 pedals I prefer the clutch as it feels more like a real clutch the throw on the CSP's is really short and the same resistance all the way down I also find the G25 pedals more comfortable on my feet (sock racer)

The clubsport pedal can make you faster and more consistent but are they worth the £200?

if you are a hardcore simracer who wants to shave .5 of a second off your laps then yes of course they are but if you are the casual racer then probably not the build quality is OK I would prefer slightly curved pedals like the g25 as they just feel more comfy which is probably why they say the CSP's are shoe pedals but I like racing in my socks hehe

to sum up I believe the CSP's strength lies within its accelerator and the brake everyone goes on about the load cell brakes but we've not really heard much about the accelerator which I believe makes you faster in the long run as you can learn the braking point on G25 pedals to give you maximum braking force but lifting just a tiny little bit to correct a slight error is very difficult and that I think gives the CSP's the edge.

Will i be keeping them ? i'm affraid i will so that's another £200 to add to my sim hobby the wife is going to kill me hehe

hope this helps anyone thinking about getting some clubsport pedals...

Sounds like I made the right choice. :)

Hell, if I could spend £200 on one of my race cars and shave 0.5 seconds off a lap I'd be laughing, that would normally cost many thousands if not tens!

On a side note has any one ever raised a dispute on iRacing against another drivers actions i.e. if they punt you off the track in a silly move? I never have but a recent incident makes me want to...

I'm still not used to my csp's after a week but I've not run as much as I normally do and what I did do was at the glen and there's not much braking to do there...

You dont drive the full Glen track do you with the Radical.

Took me ages to adapt to my pedals your muscles become used to them after a while but if you keep locking up try turning the pot down a little behind the brake pedal.

Sorry yeah was running that world cup thing in the radical and yeah it just runs the classic layout so no much braking..

I've got them how I like them I suppose I'm just getting used to how much force to use...

Chris the csp v2's are coming out with the new clubsport wheel so its not far off at all as the wheels have gone out to testers...

well i need 3 screens and a 680 GTX before anything else just got a G27 from Logitech for 50% off i couldn't resist lol

the wife is definately gonna kill me

Sites back up guys.

Just had a quick play in the caddy its a POS and i lasted 3 turns then gave up.

Just had a try in the Lotus and its still buggered so jumped in my normal ride the HPD and they all understeer badly so very unimpressed so far.

Caddy a POS? I like it, feels similar to a Porsche Cup, loads of torque low down to catch you unaware and requires throttle modulation to avoid over/understeer, early apex means understeer and slow exit as it just won't rotate. FFB on the caddy under braking seems pretty good too, definitely a step up from the smaller cars in terms of feedback and information.
