iRacing

Have you changed the brake ratio thing in settings when you set them up.. I cant remember the exact name (not at pc) but it defaults to 1.8 or something. put this down to 0

Also it took me quite a while to move from a g25 with nixim mod to the clubsports, I think it was about a week before I was back on pace, but I was much more consistant once I was used to them

Stu give my set a try its on the forums mate.

Roper yeah brake curve is set to 0 it was when I was using the nixim mod g27 pedals

I just need to give it time I think, but its a mad learning curve that I wasn't expecting

Nothing worse than buying new better kit and then trying to work out why you are slower. i couldn't brake for the life of me after going away from my g27 pedals. Time is the key factor grasshopper. You will be faster and a lot more consistent.

I split a whole mug of coffee over my G27 pedals (should have packed them away) and now they don't work, might have a look at those Clubsports.

I'm still using a 4 or 5 year old set of G25 pedals, have never let me down. I strip them down and scrub them every few months though, otherwise they get really really jumpy.

Tried Spa a bit earlier, used your setup Steve, liking it but far from hooked up around here, 2:16 iirc but on pretty much my first/only clean lap, got some work to do before racing competitively but I'll probably just practice by racing, far more fun :p

Also, just seen this post on the forums:
http://members.iracing.com/jforum/posts/list/1938869.page#4375054

New Shader update for the tracks, only being applied to New Smyrna and Motegi to start with but quite a staggering difference :)

yeah does look sweet...

ive took a step backwards TBH, i should have waited till next week to get used to these CSP's, i was starting to get to grips with the track and the last chicane i ran a 14.8 in the school server now i cant get near, also im even more inconsistent than i was as im messing up the braking a lot...

they do feel better today and im slowly getting there but its frustrating...

think i might not even race this week...

loadcells do just measure the force/ weight like a set of scales, a normal pot measures travel.

my apelectrix has a rubber block between the moving part and the sensor to give some feel and travel, but i might gofor a softerrubber if i can :)

run less camber on the front, but max the caster to get that camber back in the turns, thatll reduce lockups

Nah that would mess my setups right up, I just need to adjust to the new pedal I'm not gunna start re doing the way I do setups as mine work well for me...

I find caster in the radical effect the car mid corner on the lower speed corners too much...

You can't not race at Spa!

Even though I'm not really hooked up there yet I'll be doing some races this evening, it's only SR :p

Although I did get a 2:15.1 yesterday, optimal now in the 14's and I know where I can gain another half a second or so, so mid-low 14's is my aim I think right now.

I kept forgetting to check but I'm assuming your set is a 17 rear wing? As I said before I liked the feel, can tell there's speed there it's just keeping it on the edge without going over it to get that speed :)

One thing I wish they did was sprint races every 30 minutes at half distance. One thing that has always put me off iRacing is I can't pop on for a quick blast because each race is 30 minutes even at Rookie level.

Nah its a 26 wing mate I have made a 17 but its a no go for me, even simon is struggling with it abit.

Although with the 17 wing I can get round the track tidy but some corners feel like pot luck if you get around especially eu rouge, give simons 17 wing a shot he laps in the 13's all the time..

I have a opt of 14 flat but can't get near with these pedals I can't even get back to my pb..

Don't think I will be running mate...

ah, surprisingly loose for a 26 wing setup then, I'll definitely give Simon's (or Stephens I guess :p) a go although can imagine it being a real handful but might work in the race if you can get ahead of people to start with (eg keep them behind in the corners and just rely on the wing to stay ahead down the straights...)

Still, with my consistency probably best to just stick with the 26 :p

I reckon you'll be racing by Saturday evening... :)

yeah it just felt better loose mate, i couldnt get a nice line when i did it tighter...

me and simon was in a practice sesh yesterday and he was doing a race run and he said it a proper handful with the 17 wing on...

ill do a few more laps tonight and see how i get on, i might even run the world cup test race...

I think it's definitely quicker when looser, just a bit worried about my ability to hold onto it for an hour :p

But then I tried to make it a bit tighter and ended up provoking it into sliding most corners anyway, which is even harder to hold onto to :p

Set some better laps though, lots of low-mid 1:15's with the odd mistake, a 1:14.955 with a big mistake and a tow, and then a 1:14.6 with no massive mistakes, but not 100% clean, and a decent tow towards the bus stop

Nice lap times mate, I just can't get near with these pedals right now, i think it been spa aswell dosent help...

Yeah tight defo dosent work around spa for me either.

Did you try a 17 wing set???

The only problem I have with iRacing is braking, I really can't get any feel for the car and it's frustrating because I know exactly what I want to do but I'm either over or under braking all the time - it's the reason I stepped away from iRacing for a few years!

In the real world I feel so much through the brake pedal so losing that '6th sense' on the game/sim is really hurting me, it's like driving with the sound off. As much as I love the physics model I don't think real technical ability transfers to the game/sim - unless I need some expensive pedals?
