iRacing

After a night of racing the mx5 around lime rock, I just had a quick 20 minutes with the radical after my 1am 0 inc was wrecked on the very last bend due to a dam back marker as usual. I was in 3rd aswell :(

I was so ****ed so went and found an empty server and raced some radical at the Glenn got my first 1.05 for a few days it was a high one at 1.05:8** but I will take that after a bad night. Your mate Peter Thomas is happy G I just towed him round to a PB he's in the 1.05's now :D we did about 15 laps together side by side.

Such a wonderful game when you do that overtaking all the slower cars etc, the experience I have had this week in that radical class, well you don't get that in any other game. Lap after lap of sitting on each others bumper. Helping someone beat his PB, A Lovely way to finish off a day of I-racing.

Nice 1 see you on the grid, what lap times are you getting mate??

Me and skill are racing tonight...

Try get a good draft for your quali lap you will gain 2 10ths easy...

Fast track works all the way, I got to a class like that...

I didn't get a chance to race last night, I'd forgotten I had tickets to the planetarium show so was off exploring the universe!

My best time so far is a 1.06 flat, I can't seem to quite make it in to a 1.05. This is all without a tow though so would probably be able to manage it in qualifying.

it is tbh this isnt the best track for wheel to wheel racing either, suzuka and oulton park were great for it last season, the glen is unuiqe with the tow that lets peeps behind you stay right on your gear box even if there normally half a sec slower than you.

yeah i like pete nice humble guy...we were in div 7 together last year...

yeah tow is a big factor round the glan, 1.05's are easily achievable without no draft with practice mate so that will come to you...

josh, i literally just loaded up your race to watch you and you came off at the carousel, think i jinxed you abit lol sorry, your car was mangled after that aswell...

Aha, someone to blame! :p

Yeah, was a bit mangled, would've stayed for all the optional but the guy one place behind was out there lapping so let him get within 1 lap of me and then went out, it was a bit interesting but could lap in the 1:08's easily enough which was plenty to keep him a lap behind me and get 8th...

I thought at Mosport last season that it was my wheel failing when I downshifted too many times but I'm thinking now it's just my stupid fingers, had 2 spins yesterday and both times because I shifted down one too many gears (2nd into T1 and 3rd into the loop)

Ah well, my best two results gives me an average of 104 points which isn't too shabby, especially as I'm gonna be unable to race during the higher sof races on saturday/sunday, a nice banker week I guess you could say :p

yeah, think im gunna wait to race again till theres a strong field...probably tonight but the sunday 8.30 is normally the best race to join...

If possible, it would be great to see some recordings of these races you guys do :)
I haven't raced since GPL days, and would love to see some good racing :)

nicks, wouldn't know where to start with making videos tbh...

Steve, looked like a good race there, can't believe I missed the start again but congrats on the win :)

cheers bro, that was 1 hard but fun race, darrin was just in the draft the whole time he tried to make moves but i wouldnt budge and i kept the inside line at the carousel so he couldnt pass me easily, i knew i had the edge over him but that damn draft lol..

when you joined the race a few secs behind us i thought im defo holding him up till you catch up so he had to defend and i knew it would pressure him into a mistake and it did lol...

i only signed up as i really fancied a race i didnt even think it would go official.

cant believe you forgot again...lol...

When I resubbed I thought about leaving the Radical 'cause I wouldn't be able to make many races, but sod it, it's way too much fun. What nights are race nights in the SR8?

I was doing 1:06 fairly consistently in practice just now without a tow, what's a decent race pace?

radical races are now thur, fri, sat and sunday with the 6.30 8.30 and 10.30pm going official most the time with good numbers.

but we have just raced at 12.30 in the afternoon on a friday:D:D:D.

1.05's is good front runners pace with 06's been midpack, depending on SOF...

I saw that he was right on your tail so thought I'd catch up and see how he liked seeing someone in his mirrors, I was never going to overtake but just sit there being annoying, and as you say it seems he didn't like it, Kinda feel a bit harsh but I'll get over it :p

When I signed up there wasn't that long to go and it was just us two, so I was sure it wouldn't go official which is probably why I missed it, it was only by luck that I switched to that tab when I did, saw the Join button and remembered signing up and then saw the Forfeit and realised I'd screwed up :p

yeah made for a great race tho...

i had a rubbish start and he got in front of me but i took him on the inside of the carousel on 1st lap i just forced my way on the inside...

yeah i signed up at about 10 past then just left it looked at 12.29 and it had 9 racers so i was abit shocked...

Awesome, Thurs and Sun should be good for me.

I have some time to find yet, need to try some setups. Are the faster guys running 17 wing? I had a quick try and it seems drivable, or it would be after enough practice, but I don't think I would trust myself running that in the race.

yeah we run 17 wing sets, mine and pauls sets are on the forums mate if you want to try them.

26 wing is competitive if you really push it about half a sec or just over off the pace...

Stick with the radical guys, the more of us the better, at the start of the week I was doing 1:09's I got it down to 1:06 within one session running with Gravey.
So you all should beable to get onto the pace.

Popped in a 1:05 without knowing. Can now easily bang in 1:06 after 1:06. Last night popped in a few 1:05 being the car giving the tow.

Best thing to do is switch that time off find someone around your pace and lap with them. You be surprised I no I was if i try to get a 1:05 its hard if i just drive I can nail them.

Lyon you sound about my pace think i have you on Steam hit me up when you have 5 and we can do some laps.

Yeah, so I forgot to connect again, which is pretty special :p

came 4th though due to silly attrition, that was my last chance to race as well, so my week goes from awesome to bad to just plain stupid: 3 wins in 3, crashing out of an easy lead, and then twice forgetting to join (and both times could've been a win really)

Onto next week, although hang on, it's not Laguna Seca is it? :s

no its line rock, not sure how i feel about that really, its better than laguna seca thats for sure tho...

I did have a subscription to iRacing but found the skip barber too much of a handful to drive cleanly and ended my subscription after 3 months. If I was to resubscibe, is their an alternative path I could take licence wise in road racing, but 'skip' the skip?
