I did one of those races last night but my MPR still said I needed to complete four races even though I'd just finished one. But now it's says three, so I'll stick to the Grand Touring Cup. The Skippy ain't fun for me yet, I'm just not good enough at the moment.

There's a definite delay between the end of a session and the results being propagated amongst the various database bits, some are pretty much instant (like Q times, which makes sense as they might be required ~10 minutes later) whilst others such as Race and TT results can take up to an hour before they're reflected on the website :)

I would recommend the Skippy as it really does give you a good grounding for the faster cars later on. I found it a real pain to get to grips with but after a week when you get your head around it its great. One tip I found useful was to always try and keep a bit of power on even when you are on the apex. Just a tiny bit of it (in my opinion) seems to keep it that much more steady through the corners.
 
the problem with the skippy is that its not even slightly realistic to the point where people in the skip barber school in america tell their students to avoid spending too much time with it on iracing as it handles nothing like the real thing.

its still pretty fun to drive but if you're looking for a realistic experience id stay well clear of it.
 
I find it easier to drive the Williams F1 car than the Skippy. I think my problem is too many bad habits from other racing games. The physics in other games seem to be more forgiving than iRacing and as a consequence it makes you slower in iRacing when you try to apply the same techniques you've learned from other games.

I'll just keep putting in the time with iRacing and hopefully improve with practice.
 
Hello. Can someone help me.

Bit of a noob thing to ask but how do I get in to the game options. I wanted to play around with my wheel options and not having much look.

guys finally got my 3 monitor set up connected and need some help!!!!!!:D

got 3 x 24" monitors and have read all them formula threads for working out your fov etc and even downloaded the java applet program , but still cannot work out what my fov should be
my monitors are angled at 45% from the center monitor and i sit 32" from the center monitor.

ALso looking for info on ccc profiles so i can turn off eyefinity when not gaming :) as atm cannot even see in the CCC where you make a profile or is it "presets" and they have just renamed it

I haven't even bothered with a preset, I just switch the resolution from 5760 x 1200 under bevel corrected to 1920 x 1200 under basic in the desktop properties menu of ccc.
 
To turn eyefinity on/off presets are the way forward, to add them just set it up how you want and in CCC for Presets -> Add Preset... then enter the name and hotkey you want. I've got 3 setup:

Ctrl+Shift+1 = 'Normal' which is the windows taskbar on the left screen, and the others extended
Ctrl+Shift+2 = Is just normal extended again but with the windows main screen as the centre for non-eyefinity games
Ctrl+Shift+3 = Eyefinity

Really doesn't take long to switch, my only downside is that Pidgin has a habit of crashing when the presets are switched but that's just dodgy software :p

should really have finished second but the leader must have crashed or experienced difficulty getting passed a backmarker :D

cheers Skill i tried that a bit earlier , never quite worked 100% for me ( dont think it saved right )

do you just set it up the way you like it then make the preset name , assign a hot key then close the CCC the click save , and that should be it. is that correct ?
 
Yep, that's how I did it, did have some issues with 12.1 drivers not always changing back properly the first time, but it's 12.4's fixed that...
 
not having much joy with setting this up right atm , so am using "windows + P" to change views.
when i have eyefinity running i make the preset and assign a hot key and that works ok,, but in order for me to get to just using 2 screens for browsing etc, i have to disable the group is that correct ? s when i do that it will not go back to eyefinity as i have to remake the group if u understand .
so obv im screwing up somewhere :D
