iRacing

wow im really struggling with the Ruf C-Spec around suzuka. I seem to be sliding all over the place  My best time so far is 2:13.9 :confused::confused::confused:

I didnt think it would be this hard to drive

Yea i agree, having a hard time with this one too, doesnt like suzuka but for some reason most guys can run 2.04-05's with no effort it seems, nuts as hell, ive only managed a nice 2.07.xxx can run that pretty much all the time, so not that bad i guess - not going to race offically at this track, i imagine it will be a nightmare on the first few laps.

Had a good race earlier hanging off someones bumper for a few laps. Just wasn't able to get the extra speed to pass him, couldn't get past on the straights and when it comes to overtaking on corners I tend to overcook it as you can't take the racing line.

Was ready when he made a mistake though :)

I was using the racing line but recently turned it off. I found when it's on I tend not to use the full width of the track and I get (even) slower laptimes.

Just managed my first full race on the Grand Touring Cup with the MX5... Its DAMN hard lol. Finished 10th out of like 20 and put in a 2.44.7xx lap time! Not bad for my 4th session of the track. Going away on Monday until Friday so I wont be online until Friday! :( Unless I manage some tomorrow. Anyways gonna have one last oval blast for the night

I think that Suzuka is a very difficult track.

I've never raced it in iRacing and won't this season in the GT3 because I'm on holiday when it's scheduled run.

lucky you :D Im gonna start practicing on Circuit Zolder tonight ready for next week, I hope its a easier track

Well guys, im without iRacing until Friday now :( Ill check on the forum mind.. Reckon ill be able to take my pc, tv, seat and wheel on the plane as hand luggage? :p

I was using the racing line... then someone mocked me...so I stopped xD

might use it during an initial practice on a new track (make sure I'm going the right direction.... LOL silly charlotte road with its T junction pit exit and no signs xD) and then turn it off as I also found I fixate on it rather than concentrating more on other cars positions. :p

managed to do a TT in the mx5 cup on oky short.... straight off the bat too!! did I think 12 clean laps with a fastest time of 1.05 and average of like 1.06-07?

pretty damn happy with the times as they were fairly consistent (by my standards ;) ), more so that it took like 13 laps for me to go off track!! :D THAT'S ALMOST A WHOLE RACE! lol :p

How long does it normally take you guys to get a good lap time on a new track (that you have never raced before). And do you have to watch youtube video's and other racers to get tips before you become fast at a track?

I'll let you know if I ever get one ;)

It depends.

I I know the track but haven't driven that track in iRacing then I'm normally at a consistent pace after about 20-30 minutes. If it's a new track completely, like Bathurst, then it can take hours.

After that it's down to practice to shave off the tenths in each corner.

I use Youtube videos to see what sort of line and gear selection other drivers use. That can also help you break bad line habits. Once you can get around the track safely and reasonably quickly you can end up settling into a routine which can actually be loosing you a lot of time. So watching other drivers can help to re-evaluate your own lap and make improvements.

Try lapping slowly to start, then gradually build your pace one corner at a time.

It's difficult to do, I know, because I seem to only be able to go flat out or crash.
