iRacing

I've tried the Mazda and the Skippy at the 24 Heures Du Fun tracks and the theres so much more feel than there was before. I used to hate the Skippy, but I feel as though I have loads more control. I can catch slides and even hold a drift now, whereas before I found it a real handful
Same for me in the CSpec. Managed to catch a few slides at the top of Eau Rouge.

The low speed FFB feeling is much better too.

Spunkey, if you're interested in joining the Spa 24 hour I know a couple of guys who are looking to make a late entry team. qualifying is over but it shouldn't matter too much over a 24 hour race.

I think I could race in a few other series now that things have improved with how each car feels to me. It would be nice to have an alternative series for when the GT3 is at a track I'm not keen on.

As ever I'd highly recommend checking out the C-spec. It's a very rewarding drive and for the most part the races are clean with a good community.

I tried the C Spec last week when it was running at Spa. Couldn't keep it on the track. I wi be giving it another go now though after these updates.

I can sort you out with a setup with a lot of the understeer of the baseline dialed out if you like. Just need to warm it up for 2 laps before you can go 100% through turns like Pouhon.

I had a go9d chance to test the team options today, I really really like what they've done. Switching drivers is simple and very easy to compete, team mates can view the F boxes now while not in the car and can quickly and easily take the slower position or crew chief, being able to adjust the setting for your next pit stop leaving the driver able to just race.

Everything just works very seamlessly.

Just need trading paints to catch up now with team paints.

The new Nvidia driver gives less performance than the previous one in iRacing.

GPU usage wasn't exactly setting the world on fire before, but now I'm lucky if I get 50% max on either card.

Looks well when I'm getting more FPS in Assetto Corsa maxed out than a game as old as iRacing.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm not going to be around the weekend of the race :(

I'd be interested in that setup, if you're willing to share :)

I hear this a lot. I've been reluctant to upgrade my drivers because of this.

Righty, a quick bit of advice, if you could...

I've been using a modified G25 for a while (GTEYE spring in the pedals and a proper alcantara wheel).

As good as it is, I've just received a few quid and thought I might treat myself to the Thrustmaster T300 Ferrari GTE wheel that's around the corner.

Problem is, it comes with crap pedals, so I've got a couple of choices...

I either buy a Leo Bodnar cable to use my G25 pedals on their own or I get myself the Fanatec CSR Elite Pedals.

So, has anyone got experience of the Fanatec pedals that can suggest how much of an upgrade they are over the Logitech ones?

Obviously buying the Fanatec pedals cost a little more, but I'm happy to shell out if they're worth it and I could potentially sell the G25 if I'm not using the pedals.

Ta.

Just done my first race with a DK2... think I losty a lot of SR, but I dont care. It was a completely new experience to take just before my sub runs out. Amazing. The car models look unreal, they really stand out as true 3d models in the rift. The background is kind of flat, but you dont really notice it.

Its a shame that the resolution just isnt quite there yet, as it currently is very hard to pick out your breaking points because the distance is quite blured. Apart from that though, it is awesome! I really thought it was great the fact that you lean into the corners and really looking into the mirrors.

CV1... I await you.

I don't have the pedals personally but I'd go for the Fanatecs every time, simply because everything I've read says that a load cell brake improves your consistency massively.

Are you talking about the V2 pedals? Those are what I'm aiming for after Christmas, I hear only good things.

I've been painting again...

The Fanatec pedals do get great reviews, I'm still on stock G25 pedals so can't really add any more :p

I don't know what your setup is though but if you haven't already got triple screens I'd go for that over a wheel upgrade any day, neither will make you much, if any, faster but the immersion of 3 screens is awesome. Of course if you've already got 3 then ignore that and get new pedals/wheel (if anything the pedals should add more).

On a different note what's everyone planning on doing this season? I'm going to try to get a Skippy season in, did some practice around Mosport and it felt good, and with my limited time a car I'm fairly used to that gets decent races every slot seems like the way to go...

Triple screens do help a lot when there are cars around you. They've saved me a few times at the start of a race.

The Fanatec V2 pedals are on my shopping list too.

I'll be running GT3 and maybe the Skippy and the advanced Mazda. I've really enjoyed driving it during week 13.

Another vote for triples here, I'd never want to go back for racing.

I'll be running the RUF Cup again and of course the Spa 24 hour. I may look for another endurance league to enter.

WSCS & a couple of GT3 races may get a look in.

I like the idea of GT3 but just can't put in the time to really get used to a 'new' car (not sure I can really class the RUF as new still, but to me I've never really got a proper handle on it).

The Skippy whilst different from last time I ran it years ago it's similar enough that although slow I feel like I can settle into a consistent pace easily enough in races. I was tempted by the Radical which still seems to be the best road car in the service imo but it just doesn't get the love :p

I agree with what's been said about upgrading kit. At the moment I'm running a 20" Dell monitor and a 10 year old Logitech MOMO wheel. My plan to upgrade is CSR Elite pedals, triple 24" or 27", CS wheel base + M3 GT2 rim, then finally a GT Omega cockpit.

I'm planning on running the C-Spec in the RUF Cup, and maybe some GT3 races around the tracks I have. Sounds like I'll see you there Muska :)

Yep looking forward to it. Spending tonight doing plenty of practice.

I'd prefer to go 27" but I've read that the higher dot pitch of 1080 27" monitors makes them appear quite pixellated. The 1440 27s don't have that issue, but I'm not sure my single 980 could run 7680*1440 at a consistent FPS.
