A 980 would not be enough for 1400p at decent frame rates, especially if they're 144hz.

I use 27" and it's not at all pixelated, but it's probably down to personal preference. There is a lot of settings to change in the nvidea control panel for AA etc to really make things crisp. But my money would go on triple 27" and 144hz. ;)

The weather is going to make a huge difference for Week 1, clear skies and it's very easy to overdrive the car and burn the tyres up early on! I'll be putting up a practice session later tonight, open to all.

My 26" monitors are 1920x1200 and don't seem too bad, only issue is TN panels so the viewing angles are terribad but fine straight on (vertically, horizontal angles seem ok) :p

I run 2 GTX 970's at 5670x1080p.

Maxing the game out on everything I get 120-170 while testing.

In a race at the start it can be as low as 50 fps, after the start it will settle to around 80-100. The main problem is that no matter what settings I try I don't get 99% GPU usage across both cards. Usually in the high 60-70% at best.

I'm actually going to do some testing with one card. But I'll have to remove one from my system as I can't run surround without SLI enabled. I've tried forcing single card through Nvidia inspector, but it doesn't work.

Can you not test with 1 card? I would be interested to see if you got more...

Just get up to the PC after dinner, and between me logging in and me joining a session they've taken the service down for the next update... NOOOOOoooooooo!

Haha, thats the third time tonight! They broke the RUF's and anything with them in wouldn't launch.

Hopefully it wont be down long. We had set our session up and not even had chance to join when it came down!

I've just removed one of my cards and tested under the same conditions I was trying last night.

In a nutshell the second card gains me nothing other than heat and a bigger electricity bill.

With one card at 5670x1080 maxing the game I get 130-160 FPS with 80-99% GPU usage over one lap.

With two cards at 5670x1080 maxing the game I get 130-160 FPS with 50-70% GPU usage over one lap.

Not had chance to test in a race yet.

Going to try AC now.

AC Maxed with SLI 970's was around 70-85 FPS at 5670x1080 with 23 AI at Spa

The same settings with one card was around 50-55 FPS.

Unticked FXAA, turned shadows to down high and one of the reflections settings from high to medium gave me 60-75 FPS and I couldn't really tell the difference in image quality.

Could be tempted to sell on one of my 970's and by a set of Fanatec V2 pedals.

Thanks for hosting that session Muska. Laying down the law against divebombers helped keep it clean too.

My race pace seems to be in the region of 26.5-27.5s (assuming the race sessions use the same weather), although avoiding off tracks is a massive PITA. Both race runs I did I had 10xs. I only just got my B licence and can't see it lasting long at that rate :)

There's no way some of the track limits at Spa are more than half a car's width.

I really do wish they'd change it to four wheels over the white line, you know, like real racing.

Yea the track limits are really harsh at Spa, but you can gain so much time from being allowed near 4 wheels off track I think over half the car would be enough to keep it fair. Some corners you only need move the gravel near the white line and it's a penalty. Luckily, in the 24 hour race they're using common sense.

Spunkey, you're welcome, I don't think you need my setup if you can run a full tank of fuel at those paces :) That was not nearly the best weather for us in the C-Spec, in fact the HPD's were more like 5secs off their Qual times.

If they changed the track limits then people would still moan they can't go that inch further, I don't see the problem, takes around 10 laps before you know where the important ones are, and you simply drive such that that is the edge of the track, simple... :p

Anyone buy the GT3 version of the Ford GT?

Thoughts?

It's in my basket with the Holden, but I doubt I'd race them much even though I'll probably still buy them.

I've got the Ford GT which I believe includes the GT3 variant now? If so I could give it a spin later and give some initial comments on it if you want (it'll probably be quite late, after 9pm, but maybe earlier)...

Thanks, but don't go out of your way on my behalf. I was just curious as to what people thought.

Like I said, I'll end up buying it anyway.

Finally got this working on the rift, that was incredible. I actually drove better than without it!
I would agree. On Saturday night whilst I was inebriated, I did a mazda 5 race around summit point short, a track that I have never raced on nor tested, and found I was able to do good lap times compared to the other racers.

Ok, I admit, I didn't finish the race, but that was down to me being pished, plus I got binned by someone in the first corner. A couple of laps finding my feet, and once I got lapped, I then kept up with the leaders.

Righty, a quick bit of advice, if you could...

I've been using a modified G25 for a while (GTEYE spring in the pedals and a proper alcantara wheel).

As good as it is, I've just received a few quid and thought I might treat myself to the Thrustmaster T300 Ferrari GTE wheel that's around the corner.

Problem is, it comes with crap pedals, so I've got a couple of choices...

I either buy a Leo Bodnar cable to use my G25 pedals on their own or I get myself the Fanatec CSR Elite Pedals.

So, has anyone got experience of the Fanatec pedals that can suggest how much of an upgrade they are over the Logitech ones?

Obviously buying the Fanatec pedals cost a little more, but I'm happy to shell out if they're worth it and I could potentially sell the G25 if I'm not using the pedals.

Ta.

I cannot give advice on the CSR Elites as I have the Clubsport V1 pedals but I went from a G25 to fanatec gear.

I've said this quite a few times on these forums, the trouble with the G25 is that it is very good. I know this sounds a bit stupid but it's true. I still use my G25 from time to time as I gave it to my friend who still uses it. It's going to be 8 years old in December and has probably done 250k miles. And I'm still amazed how good everything feels when my friend and I do some hotlapping.

That said, you will probably love the fanatec pedals. Once you set them up how you like it your race craft/results will improve, you will feel so much more confident on the brakes people will find it hard to out brake you. Trial braking becomes very easy to do lap after lap.

On my clubsports I have 3 stages on braking, in which, the pedals help me

100% (obviously) as I go into the braking zone. 65-80% there is a vibration in the pedals. I use this for my turn in. 50% this is where the load cell starts (a "stop" in the pedal if you will) as I point the car towards the apex and slowly go back on to the throttle.

I cannot do this with consistency on the G25 pedals and that for me alone it is worth it. Will they be worth it for you? depends on how much time you spend racing and how much you value pounds in your pocket.

I've just gone on my fanatec account and I have spend 1441 Euros on their gear...with another 552 euro to be added when my V2 base comes.

Nothing I have bought has been underwhelming and I don't regret any of my purchases nor would I trade them back for my G25 + full value.

Though I am depressed after realising how much I've spent on my hobby :o
And when space is no issue for me I will spend another 1000 on a cockpit and triple screens.

Hope this helps :)

Seems ok here - just qualified.

I still can't get over how affected the CSpec is by marginally different weather conditions. In Muska's hosted session I could pull 2:26s with 13 gallons in the tank, today in qualifying I was struggling to hit 2:29s with 7 gallons.
