Trying to move up in the world and get my C license. Tried the Gr86 earlier and wow what a difference to the M2. Felt more grounded and easier to tame. Hoping to get the Nurburgring maps and the cayman gt4 this week so I can do ring meister over Christmas

It has just dawned on me this is not how promotion works. No ringmeister for another 3 months but should be able to enjoy the GT4 race next week.

You can speed run promotion by getting to 4.0 on your license level (via races or time trials), you don't have to wait until the end of the season to be promoted.

i just tried the GR86 for first time, agreed very planted, rather liking it, may try a series but going by test drive laps im hugely behind on time at Virginia full coarse, me need lots of practice

Need to try the GR86, been running the PCC in the MX-5 and it's good fun although I'm not particularly rapid, SR gains are nice though :p Just did the 2 hour Production Endurance Challenge for the lols and that was a lot of driving!

Managed to come 5th in the MX-5's, pace wasn't great but was pretty consistent, ended on 56 laps iirc with 8 incidents, 4 of those were from a MX-5 who was already a lap down hitting me going into the Roller Coaster, he hit me lightly one lap for a 0x and then a few laps later after initially gapping him then some GR/M2's cost me time and let him catch up again only for him to hit me in the same place but for a 4x, so annoying. He ended on 47 incidents! Also got 1x whilst avoiding an accident and 3 more off-tracks from brain farts :p

theres been some kind of update todate, first race was fine, then next 2 races im black screening, dont understand whats going on tried undervolt and standard but nothing seems to work, strange one thats driving me nuts here

That's a bit annoying, it was fine for me on Sunday night but since gone to visit family, won't be firing it up again until Satuday... Hope whatever it is is fixed by then:p

mine has been ok atm since issue, but for some unknown reason my display defaulted to 60hz and kept having to re calibrate my simsonn pedals even time start a race, nothing changed nite before update  did nothing except put bk to 100hz, and all fine strange one

have to say i thought LMu was bad, but some of these drivers are idiots, i just got DQ every point was everyone a hitting on me, going for stupid moves even had one yesterday downright took me out on straight yet they were going past me at the start,

So bit the bullet and bought a simrig

We’ve used the moza r5 on our fairly robust table and the pedals on a plank of ply and that served us well for 4 months.

Gone for a next level racing gt elite with psr1 seat and a triple standalone monitor setup. Thought about the f-gt but were happy with a inbetween setup for all cars… and simplicity.

Running it from my old 3080 FE 10gb & 5800x3d

our room size it limited so need 3x27.

Any recommendations?

Was concerned VA panels would look crap down the sides.. but no clue.

I’m defo not spending big money on oled. Just want something decent enough for racing.

What do people suggest?

@Skynet5 I'm still on a single (ultrawide) but had a bit of a look as going back to triples is tempting, not sure I can really help that much though as most of my looking was wondering whether you could pair an ultrawide with 2x 27's for the sides which seems potentially awkward...

Anyway, the VA question, my understanding is the biggest thing with VA when running triples is ghosting, the viewing angles aren't a problem in a rig as you'd orient them to 'point' at you. Not experienced VA in the flesh but if it's as bad as some stuff I've seen I'd be tempted to maybe mix up monitors if possible, e.g. get an IPS (or similar) for the middle screen and cheaper VA for the sides where I don't think you'd notice the ghosting?

Dunno though really :p

Is there any advantage of running triples over say 49" ultra wide, and what are the downsides of running triples, obviously power consumption and cabling.

Even something extreme like an 800R 32:9 49" display has less resolution overall (5120x1440 vs 7680x1440 for that 'class' of screen) but also you can angle the side screens quite severely to give a wider FOV, quite significantly I believe as well...

The downsides are the performance (more pixels, plus kinda 'need' something to handle the extreme angles, SMP in nvidia's case) but also the bezels, you kinda get used to them, and I used monitors back in 2008 with far larger bezels than today, but they are still there... It's kinda why I'm wondering something like my 34" widescreen + 2x 27's as it gets the bezels a bit more out of view.

True. Guess I was thinking of pixel density maybe I was having a funny 5mins on train thinking bigger screen bigger pixel gaps. Me bad  I hate trains lol
