They wish to enrich uranium under their own steam. Do I trust them to use it totally responsibly and not make nuclear weapons. Not really. But you either work with people or against them and in this case we can not work against them. It's their country at the end of the day. Yes it will unsettle the region but lets face it Britain and the USA are the masters at that and this particular region has never needed any help in being unsettled.

Why does Iran even need encrichment facilities? Didn't I read ages ago that even the US doesnt have any, and that NASA was so short of nuclear fuel because the US couldn't produce it that it had to buy nuclear fuel from ther russians for their space probes?

If the US can get by running nuclear power plants on limited enriched uranium production, why does Iran need so much if not for bombs?
 
Iran have turned away offers by the UN to enrich their uranium off-state, so the fact that they're still pressing ahead is either one of stubborness, or the dubious reality that they really are pursuing nuclear weaponry. I know this has been discussed before, but I felt it fair to start a new thread on the subject as the old ones tend to very quickly become a quagmire.

Thats not correct at all, not really turned the offer away, but requested amendment to the offer which Europe+America did not agree to. Tbh 5+1 are unrealistic in their demands. They are saying Iran should give up 75% of its current stock of 5% enriched uranium in return for some fuel in the future. Iran demanded that when you have fuel rods ready for our research reactor in Tehran we will give you the 75% you require in a simultaneous exchange. If Iran accepted the offer by EU its like going into a shop to buy a pack of cigarettes and they take you money but only promise to give you them sometime in the future. Hey this could really be a big hit in the members market:D

I could go on but it would just get boring.
 
i don't really think anyone will ever stop Iran from getting nuclear weapons. they clearly don't give a **** about the US (Not to mention Israel), and I don't see any physical attack being made against them... so yeah, R.I.P Israel first, then WW3.
 
Iran is taking advantage of a weak US president, the global financial crisis and Afghanistan correctly being deemed to be the number one priority for the international community to sort out. Sadly I don't think we'll be able to stop them :(
 
I dont know much about all this kind of stuff but it is worrying, and I think we're one of the worlds super powers arent we, coz history has shown that britain is very strong, and we have alies like USA coz we backed them in iraq so I think we have to watch these 3rd world countries and make sure they arent building bombs to kill us all but at the same time help them to be self sufficent and help their economy because they cant progress without fuel can they so. It's a fine line I think, but I think people have a right to be worried, we dont want to look out our windows and see giant mushrooms everywhere.

Oh, if that's what they've said, its all good i guess! Governments never lie now do they? What part of Iran having a nuclear weapon doesn't worry you? They've already been caught concealing an enrichment plant among many other things. What else are they lying about?

It's not just a "risk". If we trusted them and we were wrong, i would think life as we know it would be over. I don't want to us to go to war again. Not one bit, but if the alternative is a country being nuked by a mentalist, then i'd be all for stopping them by whatever means necessary.

It's probably because the US will have far superior ways of refining/enriching uranium, which would mean that they would only need a tiny amount.

Iran are currently struggling to make a single nuke, America has been making them for over 50 years, so i'm guessing their techniques will be a lot more honed than Iran's.

so iran wants nuclear weapons to stop other countries bullying it...tbh im sick of the uk and usa trying to police the world and bully other countries.

its about time other countries told them where to stick it.

ofcourse they must be terrorists and they will kill us if we dont kill them first lol.
 
My girlfriend has been to Iran and found it to be a lovely country full of friendly, fantastic people...

...who are constantly repressed by those that govern them. Were the country run by the majority I doubt anyone would care what they do. But they are not, they are run by a small minority of rather dangerous people.
 
I think they should be able to enrich their own Uranium, and have the Nuclear Power Plants.....The Problem is the Nut they have as a President, with the type of statements he makes is it any surprise the world is watching them, It seems like he cant wait to push the button

the only way the usa/uk will stop trying to bully/police weaker countries is if other countries stand up to them.

just look what they have done to iraq.....
