Irrational tyre views?

An interesting question asked by the Mrs that I couldn't answer...
The PS4 has a wet rating A and efficiency E... That's not as good as a where as some ditch finders have much higher rating... A and C respectively is not uncommon, so why as an uneducated consumer would you ever plump for the PS4?
All I could say is that there is far more to a tyre than just wet braking and fuel eff. Interesting question though.

Yep, unfortunately the tyre labels are simply awful. They were a brilliant idea in principle and should have given people a fantastic way of comparing exactly what they are getting. Unfortunately they are simply useless due to this reference tyre scenario.

I always figured lower efficiency meant a grippier tyre.
Lower efficiency means more rolling resistance therefore more longitudinal grip in theory (along the tyre pattern) but doesn't show anything about lateral grip ie when cornering

I've ordered 4 Michelin PS4 today . First time I have gone for top of the range tyre but it seems a no brainer with the wear that people are reporting.

I've had plenty of midrange tyres on various cars (but mainly hothatches)and whilst never being upset with the grip on offer the fronts have never lasted me more than 10k
