Is 1.5 the max voltage for memory with Ivybridge?

You can go to at least 1.60V if you want to and maybe even 1.65V.

Overclocking your RAM a little bit more is going to make naff all difference to the overall performance of your PC though.

Is your RAM designed to take that voltage?

With Sandy Bridge you shouldn't go over 1.60V according to OcUK.

I've not seen any statement from OcUK about Ivy Bridge so you should be good to at least the same limit and people seem to be fine using 1.65V.

Whether or not there are any possible long term effects.....

yeah I can't find anything on recommended max voltages for ivybridge setups either.

Well like Sandy Bridge a lot of tested RAM is of the 1.65V variety but OcUK do recommend slightly lower for Sandy Bridge.

Err on the side of caution, stick to 1.60V, and you should be perfectly fine.
