Is 4K stupid at 49"

I would. I was drooling at some oleds in costco a few days ago. Stunning. The Mrs was the first to common on how vibrant and 'real' they looked, and she doesnt really care about any of that. My pz80 is getting tired now.

PZ80 wow, that is what a decade old? pulling around 450W of power. maybe even more due to the more use it sees the brightness gets lower and you need to increase this to compensate. no matter how anyone tries to spin it spending £3K is never worth saving £30 a year on leccy. i'd keep it for a little while longer still unless you stream a lot of netflix and prime. their 4k streams and HDR streams are nice on my LG.

Went from 1080 32" to 49" 4k. For £350
Size change > 4k
That said the missus and kid were sceptical about a bigger TV until gaming!

HDR way more important IMHO but in any case sources are rare and expensive, upscaling on the 720p TiVo interface are a big improvement and regular blue ray looks good, 4k content and HDR are a longer term interest, if I could get amazon to stream at 4k I'd be happy but I can't see a point in higher tier Netflix.

my 50" 1080p plasma gets destroyed by modern day 4k oleds. I'm ok with it....when i'm not staring at one and drooling. :(

4K OLED is awesome, but they're just too expensive currently for my budget to justify an upgrade. I still way prefer my
plasma to my Sony LCD (it's a cheap set admittedly) and wouldn't upgrade to anything other than OLED.

I've got a LG49UH770V that is about 9ft away in the bedroom and I cannot fully appreciate the picture quality. I can fully appreciate the wireless .ac and the fantastic built in apps though!

you using 4K netflix streams?
Yeah, also tried DV titles, some remuxed 4K content and some Grand Tour with HDR. Don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic picture but at my viewing distance, I am missing out on some of the minute details that I can see downstairs. oFr reference, the downstairs TV is a 55" B6 and the distance is about 6ft.

could be down to IPS vs OLED as well as distance. LG IPS panels aren't true 4K either you will lose some detail there. they are 3K or something

We have 2 49" 4k TV's currently, sit around 6ft away from each and they look great when watching 4k content.

+1

I have a 43" 4K TV in my living room. People on here would make you believe you need 60" screen minimum. Everyone who has seen my TV has been blown away by it and even ask if it's 4K because it looks so good compared to their TV's so yes it must be noticeable. Even thouigh it's 43" it's top of the range for that size and cost me around £900.

The biggest TV I can have in the living room is 43" due to a feature wall. In my bedroom i have a 50" and in the games room i have a 55". So it's not as if I'm biased to small tv's.

Not seen a large 4K screen but a large 1080 TVs can look really bad imo.
