Is a 980ti really not going to cut it for 1440p anymore?

My post was kind of a dig at people because since before the 1080/70 the 980Ti was the king and monster performance which it still is. However some ports from the consoles suck and seem like the 980Ti can't do that well which infact its nothing of the sort it just crap optimisation.

So it was just a dig at the ports and the fact 980Ti is EOL now and everyone considers 1070 go to card because 980Ti sucks or atleast thats the attitude. I'm rocking a 1542 980Ti and it kicks ass.

It does, mine's at 1486 (dropped off from 1500 to avoid hiking the voltage) and at 1440p only Deus Ex and Witcher 3 in some areas have proven taxing. Even then the framerate isn't bad (35-44), it just feels worse after playing most things at 80+ FPS.

lol at the thought of a 980 Ti being obsolete at 1440p

even a 970/980 is still pretty decent at that res

dont upset the 980ti loyalists now mikuru! they seems strangely attached to them

Look, anyone who is trying to say that 980TI is not good enough for 1440p has no idea what they are talking about.

This has nothing to do with being a loyalist. Let's not push people into spending money just for the sake of it, shall we?

I actually LOL'd at that! :D

I think really it boils down to what kinda frame-rates / settings one is happy with - in all honesty I'd like more grunt than my overclocked GTX1080 has @ 1440p, mostly because I like a bare minimum of 100fps...

I am hypersensitive to motion blur, and get TERRIBLE headaches and eyestrain in shooting games unless Im pushing high framerates. Actually before I upgraded my monitor it got to the point where I couldnt game for more than 10 mins or so.

Most people I am sure are happy with 60fps on medium/high settings, in which case the 980ti is likely perfect in modern titles.

My air cooled 980 Ti's beat most 1070s.

There is still plenty of life in the 980 Ti.

Same here Kaap. My 980Ti beats most 1070s. A 1070 at 2Ghz and my 980Ti is still faster but in games probably not noticeable. But the attitude is the 980Ti is now dead in the water 1070 is MUCH better etc. When all i see is a extra 2Gb of memory and about same speed. Ohh and VR or something. :p
