Is BF2 worth getting now?

50 klicks is a good server. I used to be a clan member for around 6 months until i just stopped playing games in general. I think it was too much BF2 that put me off gaming in general!
 
The FSFA and Gotland servers are pretty good. will give the two mentioned above a try tonight.

Pretty sure this is hackers cos it never happens for me that way in their place and i dont recall it happening prior to 1.5 (but maybe they just improved the accuracy and hit boxes) and i play quite a lot.
 
its a great game i dontplay vanilla but a modded version..and take part in 12 hours battles on a saturday night with a proper military structure...lol sounds sad but ilove it...hahaha

Agreed been playing the PR mod for nearon 2 years now and it gets better as time goes on.
Theres a new update coming soon v0.9 and its going to be purely epic.
No teamwork = fail in PR

Play as British, USMC, US Army, Insurgents, Russians, Chechyans, Peoples Liberation Army aka PLA (chinese) Middle Eastern Coalition aka MEC (generic placeholder for the things like Israeli forces etc)

Yes, it is still worth every penny. I think I've bought it twice, as one of my discs went walkabout for awhile. (never thought BF2 managed to be as good on the weapon handling and maps as desert combat was in its last versions though)

I've been told the Project Reality mod is really good and worth trying, last time I tried it I couldn't seem to get into it but I think I'll give it another go.

To the OP, BF2 is good enough that everytime we have a lan party when end up spending many more hours playing BF2 than CS:S.
 
Project Reality isn't the easiest mod to get into to be honest especially if you can't find a good team and without a good team it's not that such a good mod. Also it's a lot more realistic as the name may suggest than vanilla so fun per se isn't as accessible.
 
I just had my first game of BF2.

I died 6 times in a row from people that I couldn't even see. :(

Would anyone be willing to babysit me over vent/ts/skype or something whilst I learn how to play? :p

How are you playing the game?

If you go in to Quake/UT mode and run around you'll die, die, die!

Most of the time you're taking it slow, looking for good vantage points/cover etc.

Not played for a couple of years. Gonna reload and have a blast tonight :)

I noticed that wasn't effective when I ran down an open road and got shot. :p After that I went sniper and just tried to slowly move behind my team bit by bit, but I still got taken out because my shots wouldn't kill in one hit. :(

No one was talking through text either. It was all premade voice commands and it got a bit confusing. I didn't really know what I was supposed to be doing. I knew the team objective was to capture each point, but I didn't know the map and stuff. :(

Maybe I've become too used to Modern Warfare 2. If people from here say BF2 is great with a group of mates, I'm certainly up for playing, as long as people don't mind a newbie. Voice chat would make it a lot easier too.
 
BF2 4ever, best game i ever played and had some of my best pc moments playing it :)

Wish i had time to play more TBH.

You can only kill people in one hit with the sniper if you hit them in the head, which can actually be quite tricky if there's any lag.

bad choice if its like the one you download from the EA store.

theres an anti cheat mod a lot of the more popular servers use which will boot you for having an exe thats different to the retail version of the game. :rolleyes:
 
Used to play it daily untill my account got hacked and reset. had to make another as it stayed on 0 rank. EA didnt care therefore i had to buy SF again and work my way up. Crap with all the guns except L96 which doesnt seem to unlock even when my rank goes up. So i gave up on it.
 
I still think bf2 is the best FPS out there and I must admit I still play it far too much.

If you are looking for a laugh come find our servers and website.. Not going to post a link but just search google for Baptism Of Fire clan or bof clan. Its the one with =B()F= :)
