Is fish a meat?

its the flesh of another animal...its meat

if you are a vegetarian you shouldnt eat it..just because its now warm and furry doesnt mean it isnt alive

(I am a fisherman and am happy to knock a trout on the head take it home and gut it then eat it...I have no illusions where my food comes from..I'm a top predator so will eat what I like!)

, in its broadest definition, is animal tissue used as food. Most often it refers to skeletal muscle and associated fat, but it may also refer to non-muscle organs, including lungs, livers, skin, brains, bone marrow, blood and kidneys.

The word meat is also used by the meat packing and butchering industry in a more restrictive sense - the flesh of mammalian species (pigs, cattle, etc.) raised and butchered for human consumption, to the exclusion of fish, poultry, and eggs. Eggs and seafood are rarely referred to as meat even though they consist of animal tissue. Animals that consume only or mostly animals are carnivores.

So, if you are a meat packer, fish is not a meat.

Are you a meat packer?:D

Yeah you know me blain always busy.

I think it is because its the flesh of something. Anyone have any reliable links on this subject?

Interesting to note that strictly speaking, eggs are meat too!

Damnit Scuzi...plus you're quoting the wrong part anyway, I'm not taking the meat industries definition, and that's not the definition of meat strictly speaking, that's a specific definition for their industry.

well surely an egg is just an undeveloped/unfertalised chicken....it would given the right conditions become a chicken...
