Just wondering cos I heard they are ok, I seem to remember reading on here. Whats the covarage like?

They use O2's network so coverage is basically that.

I only use them for backup mobile internet but of late thats been pretty dire and thinking of cancelling.

They have been pretty bad recently with poor net, thinking of leaving too but the fact its cheap makes me stay :D

Yeah thats why I've continued as its cheap to have as a backup... its improved a little - at this time of night I get about 700kbit/s down, 1.4mbit/s up w/ 80ms ping on 3G - its like they only have 2mbit/s per mast or something allocated by O2 as during the day its dialup slow but moving to my O2 sim get 10+mbit/s easy in the same place.

£10 a month for 500mins, unlimited texts and 1GB of internet + unlimited calls to other GG

^can't go wrong. But yes, lately the signal has gone downhill.

This is the annoying thing about EE. Horrible, horrible company with customer service far worse than O2. But on O2's 4G mast in Liverpool I only get 4mbit :o

I ordered a GG SIM until I realised it was the O2 network. Zero signal where I live so it was a non-starter. Probably OK if you live in a big city but not so good elsewhere.

Another thing about O2 was that until late last year they'd let you go over your data limit for free at an extremely (sub-dialup) slow speed. Which was very painful, but your facebook and emails would still just about get through. Recently they stopped that.

I can't tell any difference over my old O2 connection apart from it being much much cheaper.

With Vodafone I could barely get a signal anywhere so I can't really fault the o2 network. Sure it could be better but it seems they all have weak areas, should just join up as one big shared network really.

I only use them for gay porn.

Disclaimmer *User experiences my vary*.

Can't even do this unless you hand write them a letter to get them to allow adult content.... Don't ask me how I know this.

I've been on GG for just over a year and considering leaving soon. I joined when it was unlimited internet for £10. Then it went to £12 then it went to 3gb and now I think it's less than that.

Does 3 1P still have unlimited data and tethering for £15?

I think it comes down to how good the providers signal is in the area you plan on using it, O2s network has always been pretty good down here and I didn't notice any drop in data speeds when I changed to Giffgaff from O2.

Right now I get a speedtest of 27.1 down / 15.5 up with 35ms ping on their 4G plan, but that is at 3AM, during the day it drops to about 10 down / 2 up, still plenty fast, kind of puts my old pre-FTTC net connection to shame. :D

Nope. 1 plan is dead, I believe if you're still on it then once the contracts up it's onto a new plan.

I wouldn't bother with GG, I left years ago after unexplained drops in service and 3G becoming dog slow.

3s 3G service is pretty good, and on PAYG you can get unlimited data for £15 a month.

I noticed that too. Very annoying!!

I actually have a GiffGaff SIM waiting to be setup once my current contract expires but I'm now doubtful. Are there any decent competitors who are as cheap?

Their data connection is horrendous. You may as well not have data tbh as everytime I was in a city and tried to use 3G, it would be so slow that I'd just end up using my girlfriends phone. Final straw was when they changed their "fair use" policy for the odd occasion it did work, moved to EE.

The signal is good in terms of texts/calls but if you use much data then I'd steer clear
