is is illegal to eat on a bus

Normally crack open a can if we are on our way to a night out. This one time, a few ***** came on the bus without paying and the bus driver refused to drive off until they either got off the bus or paid.

when schools finish at 3.15-3.30 in london.. the whole 2nd floor of the bus is full of fat kids eating chicken chips and screaming/playing their damn music loud.. never heard anyone say anything about it.

I don't see how it could possibly be illigal, it's public transport just like a train, where you can actually buy food onboard the train! Maybe the driver was having a bad day..

Haha... at the end of the journey cos i get off at the end of the route..its more of a coach but... I asked, how much would i be fined for say, a pack of skittles..

He said... about £100

I said... So who would be fining me then...

Him... (pause)...... The health and safety people...

I laughed... and said... so what is the danger to health and safety then?

Him.... (pause).... Well, think logically.. if you were eating a banana, then you might drop the skin and somebody might slip on it...

HAHAHAHA....

he was completely serious too!

He said... it is in our council booklet everyone gets... that is rubbish! ha there isnt even a booklet! and this is a private bus company who run a public service! ...

Long story short.. he is hilariously ignorant!
Hahahahaha...

Sounds like the bus driver was talking rubbish - but lets face it - he hardly is likely to have a law degree.

Why not?

There are numerous drivers I work with who are educated to a very good standard, myself included :)

So maybe take your preconceptions and stereotypes and shove them where 'law degrees' don't belong.

Anyway, back on topic - no it's not illegal. The company decides what to exclude and how to enforce their own restrictions.

Ours is no alcohol, no hot drinks or hot food. Enforcement is purely at driver's discretion.

As are you to the English language. HAHAHAHA.....(pause) haha...!

He didn't want people eating on his bus, as he likely has to clean it up. No need to be a pillock about it HAHAHAHAHA....

etc.

The buses here have signs that say no food or drink but I've never seen a bus driver not let someone on with a drink, or stop them from eating/drinking
