Is it acceptable to let your dog crap on someone else front garden grass as long as you clean it up? I was just about to leave my house yesterday when I noticed out the front window an old man was letting his dog crap on my front grass. I was about to go out and have a word with him but then I noticed he picked it up with a bag and I felt like I couldn't really say anything. I also have 2 young kids and I don't want them around dog poo.

So what do you think OCUK? Is it acceptable? And yes I was already thinking of ******** through his letter box until he picked up the poo.

No, not on private property. So he's contaminated your lawn. Deserves to have it smeared on his doorstep and then asked how he likes it.

as long as it is picked up I wouldn't mind unless I was precious about my garden really. As long as the kids don't go licking the spot where it was "dropped" then kids will be fine.

Go and curl one down on his lawn (whilst doing that squatting, scuttling, circling motion) - once done pull yourself up, produce a poo bag from your pocket, pick up your dogs egg and carry on.

See what his reaction is and report back

Just make sure your dog doesn't go in someone else's garden - problem solved.

It's not fair to be honest, they could have kids who may like to play in the garden but also it's just not a very nice thing to do on someone else's property...

I know why you are upset OP, I had this problem too and i sort legal advice at great personal expense to clear up the issue.

That poop is legally yours as it was deposited on your property under clause 23 of the highways and byways law 1935 section 4 paragraph 2

I know how it feels when you have the urges to hoard fecal matter in your kitchen, i can totaly realte to you OP you are not alone.

If you want someone to talk/share your hobby with PM in trust

:p just incase

It wouldn't bother me too much if they picked it up after, but definitely should not be doing it, what if there were kids to be playing in the garden?

At least it's better than my street where some ****ing ********** just lets their dog crap on the pavement outside our house and doesn't pick it up.

Well he picked it up, would you rather it be on the pavement or in the mud?

Realistically what is he going to do? Cup his hands behind the dog?

I'll be more worried of female dog pee on my lawn than some poop that can be easily picked up and binned (or post back to the owner's letter box if left).

Unacceptable, for all he knows 30 seconds after he walks away your kids could come out and walk on that area barefoot.

Why can't he do what other 'decent' dog owners do and scoop it off the pavement? Unfortunately the decent dog owner is becoming a bit of a rare breed these days. Hehe, geddit? Mean it though.

If the dog started and he tried to pull it off your front lawn then you would have a trail of **** following it. Surely it's better to let him go in one lump and then pick it all up?

Not acceptable due to the germs left behind.

Seriously, its a lawn, not an operating table. It's probably crapped/urinated on regularly by other urban animals without the OP knowing, so I don't really think you can call it unacceptable due to possible contamination.

In this situation it probably depends on the consistency of the 'matter' in question. If it was dense and compact with a clean drop it may well have left no obvious debris. I'd get the magnifying glass out for a closer look before proceeding with any retribution.
