Poll: Is it colder then normal for april ?

I don't remember it normally being this cold in April

My car windscreen was iced up in the morning a few days ago and I been having to keep the heaters on at home all the time..

Many morning this week on the way to work my car outside Temperature reading has been 2 & 3 Degrees

Seems quite normal to me. For at least the last 10 years I can remember it snowing in April, usually after a brief warm spell.

It was absolutely gorgeous weather yesterday so I'm expecting snow any time now.

Seems about right however last year was one of the warmest on record, we had days of 20deg in April.

It was forecast to be cloudy and windy but it was the opposite. Warm and blue skies.

Of course, today is back to normal. Cloudy and windy

It's more likely to snow at Easter than Christmas, so no not really!

Back in the day, snow in April was not uncommon. But it is a bit chilly currently, I have to say!

Here's a clue: it wasn't 06:30, it was 05:30. We just call it 06:30 at the moment so that the evenings are longer. But it would only just after dawn, and if there's no cloud cover it will be really cold. I've seen below freezing mornings in June.

No, this is a standard April: some cold, some warm, some dry, some wet. It will be like this, but getting warmer until at least late June. The settled warm-all-day weather doesn't normally arrive before August.

It's lovely down here, just the right temp, I hate the heat. Walked the dog at 7am through the woods in shorts and t-shirt.

Looking back through my weather station logs shows the following:-

April 7th 2016 saw a low of 4.8 degrees at 03.15 and a high of 8.9 degrees C at 15.15.
April 7th 2017 saw a low of 6.2 degrees C at 05.08 and a high of 14.1 degrees C at 15.08.
April 7th 2018 saw a low of 6.4 degrees C at 03.17 and a high of 13.8 degrees C at 14.17.
April 7th 2019 saw a low of 5.6 degrees C at 09.17 and a high of 6.9 degrees at 15.17. (the low will be lower before 11.59 as the temp is dropping quickly now).

So yes it is cooler than recent years. One thing that has gone up though is rainfall. Last Wednesday we had 49.9mm in just 16 hours. We only has 68.7mm for the whole of March.

I did have data going back until 2010 and kept it backed up to a external drive. Sods law reared it's ugly head when after the last back up I swapped the hdd in my lappy over to a SSD and formatted the hdd as I sold it in the MM and the external backup drive failed big time and I lost everything, ******* Seagate!!

This April is deffo colder than average. February was unseasonably warm though.

Pretty normal for April. Bring back the summer of 2018!
