Is it just me, or is Android a mess

iphone SE?

Ive got iphone x and s9 here at work and tried the google apps on both and the android s9 is slightly snappier but nothing much between the two

iPhone SE and Samsung Galaxy S9.

If device makes a difference then you've got yet another problem of inconsistency with Android.

I don't believe you are being genuine... I have an iphone x and galaxy s8 and notice little difference in functionality or perceived "smoothness" of two of the apps you are talking about. In reality this thread has run its course, we get it, you prefer the iphone and IOS, so use the iphone & IOS, that is what life is all about, freedom of choice, and you are free to use whatever you like the most.

Of course a device makes a difference, newer hardware is likely going to be faster than older hardware even across IOS devices you will notice performance differences new vs old, its like saying the iphone x performs better than an iphone 6 in the same apps, well duh... Ask yourself if less than a second difference over recent devices running the same app matters to you or even if you would notice in every day use?

I could point out a number of inconsistencies in the UI design in both android and IOS, in particular with consistency of back button locations in IOS where depending on what screen it jumps from top left to top right or bottom left, to frankly wherever they fancy putting it. Much the same in some aspects of Android. Neither of them are perfect so just pick the one you like and rock with that.

Fair enough, I was only trying to have a reasonable debate. I do prefer iOS and will stick with it. Many thanks.

I wasn't trying to derail reasoned debate so apologies if that is how it came across. The problem with stuff like this is how it often comes down to personal preference. Once people have decided on that preference be it with phone or even pc operating systems it then starts coming down to bias and minor insignificant differences to prove a point.

Personally I feel that there is so little in it between phone operating systems that it is almost a non issue. I feel that we have pretty much got to the point where manufacturers are no longer fighting in the tech space over who has the best tech and letting the software/devices do the talking but instead in court rooms over ip.

The hardware issues on the Pixel 2 are blown out of portion. It's a great phone.

Agreed. I think the OP made a mistake choosing to criticise Android after trying a Samsung device. I'd pick my 2XL over any Samsung phone any day of the week as the experience is so much better.

Of course you have differences between devices. What a ridiculous comment, did you think about that one before you pressed Post Reply?

In fairness with Apple there is very little difference between phones.

The issue with Android is not the differences in hardware but the Fragmentation of the OS and updates, and bloatware. You can migrate this a little with some stock android devices. But not many.

IOS though is very old at this point. Its needs a redesign. I find things easier in Android but the updates are a pain.

Yes I did and there is very little difference in performance between the SE and the 8 in every day tasks. That comes down to the optimisation between hardware and software that the iPhone and iOS allows.

*Nope*
