Is it normal for Ryzen to hit 74c

And do i use included backplate or my motherboards own? Cos judging from diagram i use my own for AM4.

Thanks. Well the backplate that came with my motherboard Msi tomahawk Max seems weird. Im sure im using the correct screws, but when i screw them on my backplate just rattles insecure. Im sure ill figure it out lol.

I was thinking that. And i wasnt even sure if id been using the backplate correct. But it seems i have been. People on reddit say the sticky white cover/plastic on the bracket/backplate is there to protect the motherboard. Metal touching the back of the board can short or even fry the motherboard. Ive got myself all confused here.

Also if i flip it then there's nothing stopping the nuts against the board. I dont want to damage it. I hope my backplate isnt incompatible. Be just my luck.

Its the Gammaxx deepcool L120. I cant see anyway the supplied backplate/bracket could fit AM4. And the supplied double ended nuts just are too long to secure the motherboards bracket to the board. I cant believe it.

No i had the Wraith cooler so you remove the 2 plastic brackets. And ive done exactly what you described im pretty sure. Ive tried everthing i can think of. Tomorrow ill upload some pics for you. Im having a bit of bother uploading pics with my googlephotos and photo bucket at mo. The only thing i can think of at min is see if i can find some nuts to make it secure. Ill try tomorrow but i do thank you all for the help.

Unless screwing the actual cpu block pulls it secure? Hmm ill try that later and report back. :)

I think im not taking into the equation the cpu being present too. Maybes itll be more secure? Hmmm.

Ive got it on secure. I had to put pressure on back of plate to push up then secure on block. This had me stumped. But i got there in the end. Im bit worried to over tightening the thumb screws securing block i dont want to crush my cpu heatspreder.

Indeed my friend im now sitting in windows looking at 30c ive never seen it that low before. I'll do some full testing tomorrow. It looks great too, im very happy. :D

I get the screws finger tight, then use a screw driver to give a very small extra tweek. They don't need anymore than that.

Thats what i did and im amazed its so good. I used my Arctic silver 3 not the supplied stuff by the way. So glad i sussed it, with a little help from the forum. :)

Ah thanks humbug thats very cool. I think mystic light came on my cd with the red devil. Ill have a go. :D

Ran a few tests and I ran Forza Horizon 4 Benchmark on ultra @ 1440p and my cpu never went above 52c. Thats with the case sides off so i'll see what its like with them on but thats impressive as it was hitting over 75c before. :)

So I ran CineBench R20. Dont know if i ran the multi core test I just hit run and it did the render test. It hit max of 71c which im happy with. 3494 points, means nothing to me but still. :)

I used to do the paper thin spread but now i just put a blob in the centre bit smaller than a pea, then i put 4 smaller blobs in each corner.
