I find their oral sex ritual on new born baby boys when performing circumcision terrifying. So the ops friend picked a great costume just needs a doll from a toy shop to seal the deal now.

Wish i hadnt read that link, thats quite possibly the most disturbing thing ive read. Never knew Orthodox Jews did that :/

Political correctness is a bit daft, a lot of things you do or say can offend people (eg. saying "gay" and meaning "bad"), those people could be right to be offended, but it shouldn't take away your right to say/do it, you should just know that to those and maybe more people, you're going to look like a dick.

If your friend spends Halloween dressed up as an orthodox Jew he's going to look like a massive dick.

Tank didn't until he wiki'd jews...

Wiki making people look smart since it's conception ;)

Actaully I did know of this ritual. I assumed someone would ask for a source to my comment so I had to choose amongst the Daily Fail and some American news sources and Wiki.

Ive heard of this before, its disturbing and wrong, as are most religious practices, so orthodox Jew would be quite fitting for a party when people dress to be scary.

Traditional jasons and Freddie's ain't got nothing on real life.

There's worse out there. Google a tribe in Papa New Guinea. I wish i'd never read that either.

anyway, going back to the OP. no i don't think it'll offend anyone.. Besides, you'll be all set keeping the bottom of your trousers dry, incase there's a flood ! ;)

It's not particularly politically incorrect nor offensive generally, but I fail to see why anyone would dress as an Orthodox Jew for Halloween....I would point out that Halakha prohibits Orthodox Jews from celebrating Halloween so if you live in an area with an Orthodox Jewish community some might find it a bit disrespectful.

How on Earth is it offensive?
What the hell is wrong with people.
Well I did say 'kinda offensive', implying that I didn't think it was wildly outrageous. Perhaps it was the wrong phrase to use but I can't think of the right word. Certain people might think he is a bit of an ass, is as close as I can think of for now :p Oh and drama much ;)

Do I personally find it offensive? Nope, I wouldn't bother saying anything to someone wearing the outfit either. The OP did ask for opinions though. More than anything I just think it's a bizarre choice for a Halloween outfit.

Hallowe'en costume as a Jew = you'll get a few funny looks, that's it
Hallowe'en costume as a Muslim = you'll get beheaded!
Hallowe'en costume as Prophet Mohammed = the whole party gets beheaded!
