- Is it possible to be too rich?

I often find rich people who i often come into contact with are greedy arrogant,it's totally obvious that money made them that way,and the more the wealth the more the attitude they have against us peasants with very little:( you see it all the times on these forums people sticking up for the rich.

While I do agree to some extent, I find it's the upper middle classes that contain the worst examples.

Additionally everybody is different, and it's just bigotry to make judgements about people you don't know... you just have to take everybody on their merits.

Yes of course, they get one chance:p

If someone suddenly said that I had practically unlimited money (and it was true) then I don't honestly know what I would do. After flying about and visiting places, I think I'd feel pretty bored and empty. I don't think many people would take you seriously once they found out your wealth.

I think that says a lot about you as a person though, so I've changed my mind - I think being a mega billionaire would be awesome. Time to spend my days BBQing and becoming a surfing pro!

I don't think it is possible to be too rich. You need rich people to buy rich things, and pay for stupid experiments that no one else would invest in. Branson is a great example... Sea bed exploration, commercial travel to the edge of space etc...

Hell, often the Richest in the world, are the most sensible with money.... Look at Buffet.

That said, whilst I don't think it is possible to be too rich, I do think it is possible to not respect the money you have. I don't neccessarily agree with the concept in the OP of some spoilt teenager having no understanding of money. That said many multi-millionnairres are good at teaching their children how to deal with money... Just some aren't. Peter Jones is a good example of someone who is able to. I think his system is that he's set up a trust fund for his kids, and he doubles whatever they earn. If they do a particularly socially beneficial job that is underpaid (nurse for example), he triples it instead. But yeah, other parents aren't quite so good at instilling the same kind of respect for money.... (Lionel Ritchie)

If I was a multi-billionaire, I'd probably run an interesting business of some kind, no idea what though, and then I'd probably spend a lot of time learning to do interesting things. Doing what I wanted. Visit the wonders of the world, go scuba diving in the Galapogas (again), go to Patagonia, hell, go to Antarctica. Buy a Les Paul, Spend a year driving a 67 Mustang across America, and then put it back in my garage of cars for the rest of it's life, just to be looked at and admired.

My 2nd epic first I felt so brave, bold and full of courage to publicly ask for $10 million USA or £10 million pounds. Just like big man Jesus Christ in Bibles said "ask and you shall be given". So I boldly ask for it and you can also give me any amount you feel from $10 cents to $100.000 through paypal donations. Paypal link in video description. Thanks blesses

I've more respect for the super rich than the beggars

I've always said I'd have the best sleep I'd ever had if I was to end up with xx million. It'd mean the end of many of my problems, and would open the door to excellent health etc.

The potential to introduce other problems is there, but I don't think I'd be too bad with that - I'm guessing though.

I've went out and bought bottles of champagne that have cost me more per percentage of my wage than that. Just one of those things you do.

Well what do "you" need billions for ? You could'nt spend it fast enough. Even people like bill gates have realised that and give great swathes of it away.

Buying an Island would be nice...

If I was feeling particularly generous, I might save the British Economy....

But then its not for you is it, as soon as you give it away in quantity you've accepted you have enough / to much

There's a whole multitude of ways I could spend billions. One of my first projects would be to start a construction company in Europe. Construction is the backbone to a lot of countries economies and with that much equity I wouldn't need to borrow from the banks (obviously). This would create jobs, affordable housing and me more money to pour back in elsewhere. Not to mention I'd be living extremely comfortably.

I don't know, there are things in life which take a lot more than money to achieve. They're often the things with the highest value.

One thing i have never understood is why people carry on working when they have so much money in the bank, they must have shallow lives with nothing except work in their heads,i have plenty of hobbies to keep me busy till the day i die if i was rich.

It's not liquid though is it, its invested and your actual wealth would be minute compared to your net worth. So again "you" don't need billions, you might be able to make billions work but at a personal level you wouldn't need it.

You really do like judging people...

Some people enjoy their job and get satisfaction from it.

I've always thought if I managed to scrape up enough to retire early I'd like to work a few mornings a week in a garden centre watering the plants and so forth. A little bit of pocket money, but also to give my week some structure and make me feel as if I was at least doing something. I think I'd quite enjoy that in my later years.
