Is it possible to put a diesel engine in a once petrol car

Both the engine and gearbox from a deisel car of the same type (Ford Galaxy) into what was a petrol car.

Engine mounts may need to be altered. Anything else that would be a problem? Exhaust system?

Fuel pumps, filters, probably the bay loom.

Insurance, might be an issue since the car is now 'modified'.

Rev counter might need refacing or recalibrating.

The loom might be different.

Good point, lot of the new stuff uses a pump in the tank.

Basically yep, plus fuel tank/pump/lines, any ECU/loom etc.

Depends on the car.

Something like an old Uno or Fiesta, it's probably not too big a job.

Parts you'd need from the donor include:
-engine
-exhaust
-fuel tank + delivery
-Radiator?
-brakes
-Engine ECU
-Code ECU & Red key

But something like a New Mondeo or Grande Punto you can forget it.
