Is it time to ban LED Headlights

Night driving glasses help I found. They effectively knock them down to a sensible kelvin so aren't as white. It doesn't ruin your night vision as much, or as headache inducing.
Thanks, just ordered a pair of clip ons from Amazon, will see how they work. Luckily I don't have to drive at night too often.

I’d never go back to halogen lights - they’re dangerous in dark/poor conditions compared to xenon/LED.

Never had an issue being blinded by them unless the other car is blatantly misadjusted or has left the full beam on.

Auto full beam I’ve never found works well enough, although the matrix headlights on my E Class were very clever and did actually work on the whole, till I wrote the car off anyway…

Philips Vision line (or equivalent) are fine, there is a big difference between the cheap generic and/or even OE halogens a garage fits and/or a lot of people buy and some decent ones.

Maybe mandate something like light tinting ?

My 2016 TTS came with led lights ( non matrix ) and i got flashed a few times a week..... although tbh i don't think they were that bright.

Anyway since i had front and rear lights tinted for looks i have not been flashed once and tbh i don't really notice a difference in the beam for myself when driving.

are you sure it was a brightness issue and not that they were just badly set up? it maybe you are still dazzling people but not enough for them to flash you.

the lights on both our cars are super bright but i do not get flashed (except 1 time in my wifes car i had gotten too lazy and forgot i had to manually dip, so that was a genuine flash if you catch my drift)

Just had MOT in december the lights were set correctly yes. There are no controls to adjust the beam height in the car, test center tested beam shape and levels yes.

Something I've noticed with my new LED headlights is that Cat's Eyes don't show up or could I be doing something wrong?
It's awful not seeing them now.

If you're in a car with a larger vehicle with headlights higher than regular cars behind you (bus, lorry etc), it doesn't matter what headlights they have, it still causes a lot of glare for the vehicle in front

It’s not you, I also don’t see them, but honestly it’s because the roads, at least where I live have had barely any maintenance, and in most cases they never replaced or maintained the cats eyes.

As long as there's nothing wrong with the cats eyes i.e. covered in dirt or whatever I find them much more visible with the LEDs than my old lights

Had a new one on me the other night - driving the Qashqai, car behind had Matrix type lights and was mostly working as intended but on left hand bends I'd get a momentary but very distracting extremely bright flash in the passenger side wing mirror from their headlights when they were sitting at the distance behind me they were most of the time - didn't happen when they dropped back a bit or were a bit closer. Enough to momentarily impact my night vision.

Yeah, I've not seen cat's eyes for years on any of the A-roads I drive on regularly. They are there but they are damaged and haven't been replaced. It's shocking the lack of maintenance of our roads these days.

I've honestly never thought about it.
We had this new car and were driving at 3am to go to the airport on the A50 and there were only about 4 areas of 200 yards or so where the Cats Eyes were visible, what I also noticed was they were new areas of the road.
Since then I've drove down other roads like Stafford to Stone and once again it's as though the Cats Eyes have been switched off.
