That there is no need to defrag an ssd and doing so will actually cause a lot of damage? Just wondering. I have my os on my ssd. So will it stay running smooth for years?
Thanks.

I think you may actually kill it, if not shorten it's life expectancy.

Defrag is designed to move files on the HDD around with the intention of making it faster. HDD's will store files in set locations, where the SSD does not. The SSD has a random write, where the files are not placed in the same memory blocks each time.

Windows (7 I know for sure) will automatically disable automatic defrag on SSD drives.

Don't manually do it ;)

Edit: According to Intel you should also disable Superfetch/Prefetch. Intel SSd toolbox can do this for you. I have no idea if it will load if you don't have an intel SSD though. It detects other SSDs but certain features only work with Intel SSDs
