I've been over thinking again, and I'm a bit confused.

I have this friend who gets annoyed at me when I use there name when its just me and her, for e.g., I'll be like "so what do you want to do for dinner tonight, [insert name]?"

I can see how it might be annoying, there's no one else there so obviously I'm talking to her, but what I've just realised is no one does it to me, and it got me thinking, is it a weird thing to do?

Very weird, it makes me uncomfortable when people do. The majority of people do not do this - as you have noticed.

Someone did it to me recently and it is incredibly creepy and annoying yes i can see where she is coming from. Completely unnecessary usually a sign of nervousness in my friends case.

How is it weird? I can see how it might be weird if you did it excessively, like every other sentence or question, but I don't see the problem otherwise (and in an appropriate context of course)

If its you partner then it is usually "What would you like for dinner love?" ;)

If its you mate then replace love with mate. :)

Also do you use full name or first name?

Thinking about it, what a strange question!!!

Thing is, I used to be a bit weird about using people names to there faces, I used to be a bit shy and it was just one of those weird things, so I think I over compensate now by doing it all the time.

But noted, its creepy and I will try and stop

Whenever I chat to my next door neighbour, she says my name at the end of every sentence. Sometimes the beginning and end.
It's somehow weird...

And no, it ain't like that :p

I do this a lot, but I'm in sales so I tend to use it as a rapport builder. I don't know if I do it with my friends, but my gf says I only call her by her name when I'm angry.

If used not too frequently, maybe as a means for emphasis, then it's ok. Said too often, and I start to find it a little irritating and unnecessary.

I'd think you were insulting my intelligence as if I wouldn't realise you are talking to me unless you say my name.

I'm not walter white FFS!
