Is it worth switching from Hotmalil to Gmail?

How is hotmail.com pro for uk users?

I have a hotmail.com address I got back when it was HoTMaiL but I just forward it to my gmail address. I also have a number of personal domains all forwarding to gmail. I then use mac mail to download copies of all mail. This was handy when hotmail decided to junk all my (and other users) mail

So in ten years time, what will have happened to all these hipsters?

I've had my hotmail a long time (firstnamelastname@) and even thoug I now have gmail as a back up, I can't see it becoming my primary for a long time.
 
Bit of a random bump 0.o, anyways, after making the switch thanks to this thread haven't regretted it, calendarn syncing with phone and iPad is pretty sweet.
 
Have used gmail since way back in early beta when you had to be invited and invites were limited.

I have not used hotmail for anything other than a spam trap ever since

I don't even have my isp mail address set up everything goes through gmail, I can't fault it
 
I have a few email accounts, hotmail, gmail and a few pop accounts. They are all linked into gmail, and outlook so I can manage them all in one place, and have an offline backup through outlook.
 
I don't understand how people accidently or don't realise they are reviving an old thread.

For me if its not on the front page, I have missed it :)

Erm....so what? OP had something to add to the discussion, and so he added it.

For my part, I wouldn't "move" from one Email Service Provider to another, just keep both accounts. Each one has its benefits and specific uses. My Hotmail account for example, is the first one I ever had - would hate to see it go.
 
I was searching for something, the thread appeared in the search result, I replied without looking at the date. You might ask yourself why do you feel an obligation to reply on a thread you've no interest in. I didn't realize people stopped switching to gmail a few months back and all discussion is now now banned on it. They should block all searches from old threads if its causes so much mental anguish. Perhaps if I said sorry we could all hug and be friends?

I was purely just curious as to how these threads pop back up as the last page in GD didn't even go back that far.

Get a google account.
Get a personal domain.

Setup hotmail to forward to your personal domain.
Setup you personal domain to forward to your google account

Any other way is inferior.
Problem solved.
