BMW M cars are extensively tested at the Ring.

have you forgotten were talking about an M car here?the only reason you buy an M car is to make the most of the power and handling.

I dunno, personally I think most of them are probably bought by overpaid middle management types on finance just so they can say they have an M3/M5.

Why would overpaid management types need to finance an M3?

a) Dunlop do not make Sport Contacts - these are Continentals
b) ContiSport Contacts are rated to 186mph, IIRC.

they are contis. the 186mph rating is a sustained speed. a brief run over that is highly unlikely to be a problem. i think laps of the ring are much harder on them. :)

same reason anyone would want to finance a car. its not that they need to its that they have better places to invest the money. ;)

Many people with expensive cars never pay outright, it doesn't make good business sense. You seem to make this wrong assumption everytime this topic comes up and I thought you would have known better studying business at uni:p

I took it that it was implied that people who can't really afford them finance them up etc etc... rather than people who make a choice to finance becuase it's the most efficient use of capital.

don't get me wrong, i'm not saying the bulk of M car drivers can even drive competantly, but that is the reason they buy them for the most part.
every M car gets "gunned", although how often obviously depends on the owner.
remember, when you have 500bhp on tap EVERY single time you stamp on the happy pedal your transmission is seriously stressed.

Even a worker at my local bmw dealership seemed to be ok with taking his M3 to redline a few times....

What an experience.

Tom the production company for ITV' Pulling Power have just called! Missed their call so phoned back and waiting for someone to call me again :D

Get any good bulletcam footage, either on the track or on the way over?

I know you will be all shocked but the video is almost done! I extended my holiday and have been editing for about 4 days now :D

That is one beast of a car. I take it that and the M6 are very similar performance wise?

What exactly is Spie upgrading to then, a Koenigsegg? :D

Didn't realise it could be de restricted

200+ mph from a 5 door saloon, that's impressive!

Rod Tarry's F-reg saph cossie does that, in less than 1.25 miles.

But then, he could have bought one of these from what he's spent making it do it!!

Very nice you lucky bugger!!
