Is Kuala Lumpur as dull as it looks?

I am a big fan of more raw edged cities

Bangkok, HCM we love, not sure re Hanoi , HK and KL were not for us

If you don't like HK for the reasons you said then you won't like Singapore. Singapore is like HK without the edginess. Singapore didn't go through the same evolution during the start of the 20th century the same way as HK did. Singapore for example did away the street food scene (Dai Pai Dong) and pushed them all into Hawker Centres. Cleaning up the street and also preserving them. Hong Kong didn't do that so much as they just limited the licence of them and letting them die slowly.

The way they handled housing too means more home owners in Singapore in better accommodation.

Singapore is a cleaner, less edgy version of Hong Kong. Singapore is like Hong Kong island all over, without the Kowloon (grungy) and NT (nature) part.

from that I don;t think SG is for us though we are really only going due to it being a good route to get to Krabi and flight availability on the new BA club suites

I see Singapore as a place for a stopover to another place in Asia/Australia. 24 to 48hrs to get some cheap food, adjust body clock a bit. That is if you have the spare holiday to do a stopover.

It's clean, it is safe, it is definitely not edgy. It is a a very modern city, even the green areas feels planned and designed.

yep we have less than 48hrs, just seemed a shame not to make a little stop as we are connecting there

Singapore airport is great it's got a swimming pool so you can dump your stuff and go for a swim.

I remember it being so easy with the passport scanners to leave. It's a very big airport though and felt like your walking forever. Funnily enough I'm just back from Athens and they changed the airport layout you walk literally miles it feels like to baggage claim, first time I've witnessed that in airport in Europe.

As for KL there was a cool temple on the outskirts it was red? Forgot the name I went back in 2018 was cool to visit, I thought the food was good there was a food centre at the bottom of a shopping centre which was decent multiple choices.
