Is malwarebytes site down for anyone else?

Have you tried a virus scanner?

I have done yeah Avira! :)

Update - I managed to install malware bytes in safe mode and run a scan, 6 infected files were found. Mostly in the registry and system 32, the computers seems a lot snappier now at least. I'm running avira just now for reassurance to see if there's any left.

Indeed. MalwareBytes is good, Avira is decent, but never trust just a couple of scans after an infection like this. Now you can install executables, in your boat I'd be running Bitdefender, SuperAntiSpyware free edition, SpyBot S&D, then finally a full Dr Web scan (which takes ages, so do that last - overnight maybe).

Don't forget to re-run MalwareBytes at the end in 'normal' (not safe) mode to catch anything that might be lurking that was lying dormant in safe mode.

Update - Still can't run malwarebytes in normal windows enviroment. :\

Must be still stuck in the registry. And I need to download in .zip format. Rainmaker or anyone else able to host ccleaner in .zip format? I hate to ask but such a pain. Thanks guys.

Sorry for the late reply, I've been out of town and only just got back in. CCleaner (.zip) is unlikely to do much at the moment mate; a quick clean out of some temp files and so on isn't going to get you a proper bootable, usable environment back. I've uploaded it for you anyway as it might at least help you disable rogue start-up items.

Do you have access to another machine? Download a boot CD (Dr Web highly recommended) and run that. It's completely independent of Windows and so will blast the malware right out. I'm uploading it to my server as we speak (Dr Web's FTP server doesn't appear to like FXP so I couldn't transfer it straight to my server lol). Once it's done I'll link you here just in case you have no other machine.

Cheers.

EDIT: Dr Web live CD (latest version.zip).

Also if you want to try to get .exe files running again you can try THIS. Once you've extracted the ZIP, do a right click > Merge. That seems to have helped someone else on this forum in the past with the same issue. As with anything, just because I helped and advised you, it doesn't mean I'm wanting to be liable. I'm no pro, I'm just offering my tuppence and I could be wrong, etc etc. :p

No you've helped a lot rainmaker, thank you very much. And don't worry I'm not so narrow minded as to blame you. :p

Ccleaner might have done the trick hopefully. Just doing a memory overwrite. That plus it got rid of the funky start up process called omononono or something. lol

Fingers crossed mate. Run Dr Web just anyways - it's a great bit of kit. Make sure to do a thorough scan (can't remember the exact name - thorough/deep/intensive/whatever) rather than a light/basic/fast scan.

Yeah I'll do a run of that plus malwarebytes again. Here's hoping!

Update - Ccleaner is a surprisingly effecient tool! Nailed the registry problems, destroyed the weird .dll start up. Wiped pretty much all the temp files that was clogging up the system.

Rainmaker, that dr web .iso doesn't have any .exe or files that I know how to use. :p

Burn the ISO to CD. Reboot and boot from the CD. The scanner will open a GUI and you can do the rest from there. :)
