Is Metal Gear 4 coming to the 360?

I thought it would come out on the 360, but if it does it will have more than 1 disk which wouldn't please a lot of people. And if its true about Blu-Ray reaching its max for space, then its very unlikely it will come to the 360.

It's all hot air though.

Oblivion filled a blu-ray disc because the developers needed to duplicate data to be able to stream as fast as a DVD9. Sony are desperate to make it appear dvd9 is a technical limitation and it's strange only PS3 exclusives seem to 'need' all the extra space; rockstar haven't complained with GTA IV and capcom, epic, bungie all seem to be fine. Kojima is such a sony fan boy I don't think anyone is surpised by these ridicolous claims (even Shawn, a sony favourite on the 1up show has commented how much hot air is the claims to have filled 50GB).

My guess is dropping the uncompressed audio barring how much the fmv takes up they could easily get it on one or two discs.

I'm still not sure whether it'll come out though and if I'm honest I don't really care. I haven't played any other MGS and all the videos (people in barrels with porn, fart gags, vomiting) really haven't done anything to make me want to take an interest.

The MGS games tend to have little fmv. Most cutscenes are (excellently) rendered in real time. Lost Odyssey is on 4 discs but that's full of pre-rendered fmv.

The porn, fart gags and vomiting in MGS games are only easter eggs really:p

Sure i recall reading last year that the GTA team were complaining as they were finding it hard to get it all on a xbox 360 disk, only stands to reason that 1 big disk will offer developers more in terms of games.

Am sure if Microsoft had put a HD-DVD in the 360 from start we probs would have been looking at them winning the hd war for sure, bad move by them imo theres plenty of stuff on the internet about developers complaining at the lack of room on a 360 disk, Assasins Creed was another i recall reading about.

The FMV's are rendered real time, and it would need at least 4 disks because it still needs some common files on each disk.

MGS is basically the same throughout the series which makes it so so good. If you didn't like it, then i doubt you would like MGS4. But there is meant to be a new control system and of course a free moving camera instead of the set ones like in MGS1 and 2 (haven't played MGS3 myself).

I've watched a walkthrough on YouTube of MGS1. Thought it was quite good but there was way too much chopsing. Tried MGS2 myself on PS3 but hated the control system. It was Japanese and very complicated. So I'll go and watch walkthroughs of MGS2 and MGS3 before I try to play MGS4 myself. I hope they do have a new control system.

The complaints are because they have to do more optimisations to the code to compress which means more work, whereas with a 50GB disk they can leave all of the redundant junk and still have enough room, then just sit around playibg beer pong and eating chips :p.
There was a playable demo on PC a while ago that had full textures and everything that was optimised so well, it fit in something like 50kb of space.

I didn't like MGS3 and haven't played the first two... is this going to be any better than the 3rd?

It gets rid of some of the most complained about flaws with MGS3 - namely the camouflage handling and injury/medication system. The camouflage is automatic thanks to the octocam in MGS4 compared to having to open the menu every few minutes or so in Snake Eater. The extremely unnecessary and clumsy bandage/medication system is removed completely, and the clunky controls are completely overhauled. I would wager a large bet that MGS4 is a massive improvement in every way.

It's worth noting that MGS3 is completely different to the first two - so give those a try anyway. You might like them.
