I like all kinds of music which is very vast but this evening I was in the mood for some modern metal that hits hard something I can really feel but everything I'm finding is over a decade old and I'm not finding anything current that I've not heard a million times before. Rock and metal in general seems to be fading out even Godsmacks music has gone really soft.

I do like a bit of classic 80s metal but this evening I needed something modern and hard hitting.

Who else likes metal?

No. Try Thy Art Is Murder. Formed in 2006 but going strong. Loads of what I like is just the new music from old bands though like machine head, napalm death, slipknot, rammstein etc.

Definitely not, plenty of decent modern metal out there, although it does seem to have split out into many subgenres, so it depends what you want from your metal

I still listen to the old stuff I liked but I admit I haven't found anything new I like really.

Same really, I tend to find 'new' music only to find the band have been around for years. All the early 00' bands are still releasing stuff so I pretty much keep tabs on them. There are so many sub genres for metal now meaning there is plenty of music out there, it's just a matter of finding it and what suits your taste.

I used to listen to Minnesota's 93x KXXR in Saint Paul. They used to be really good and always played a decent selection of hard rock and metal depending on what time of day you listen to them. There is something up with there live stream at the moment so the next best one is 96x Alternative and I listened to them for a bit but they were playing some really cheesy rubbish stuff song after song was awful so I put youtube on and I was really struggling to find stuff that wasn't stale and worn out from the last decade.

There are plenty of smaller/less known groups these days putting out quality stuff - the problem is finding them - Spotify discovery feature can be useful to a point in that respect.

I'm very much set in my way of "Late 80's to late 90's only please" but I've got 2 mates who both still like to keep tabs on "modern" metal using that Spotify Discovery stuff and they drop me a new band name every now and again, most of which sounds papp to my old ears but I think it still shows that "Metal" as a genre is still alive, but it just maybe more limited in the number of "new" <25yo fans nowadays compared to when I was <25yo.

Metal scene is very much alive I would say. There is plenty of new bands around, and a huge amount of different styels of metal. It all come down to what sound you like.
