As i don't know much about memory, i don't know if its the running at the right speed?

Also was thinking of getting another 4Gb of the same to make it up to 8Gb, would i see much difference as im only using vista 32bit?

Cheers

Your memory is running at 800MHz. What speed did you expect it to?
5-6-6-18 isn't great, if you set the timings in the bios to whatever the packaging says things should be quicker,

Oh, and under 32 bit you'll see no difference at all. System stability might suffer slightly. Unlikely that 8gb will do you any good even with 64 bit, as it's reasonably difficult to use up more than 4gb.

Looks like you need to adjust the memory multiplier / ratio in the BIOS as the part number suggest's 1066mhz for memory.
CPU-Z should then read 533mhz.

just leave the timmings on auto, and set the voltage to 2.1v and frequency to 1066 in the bios.

i had to do this when i got a set last week.

and why would you want to go to 8gig when vista 32bit can unly really use 3.5gig.? your not even using the full 4gig

you could always call microsoft and get them to send you a vista x64 disk(£7 i think) and install that with your 32bit key and you can use as much ram as you wish :p

NB is on the CPU and tends to be pretty sturdy. Also the performance gain is why a phenom II 720 can beat a 940 in some games with only a 200mhz NB clock advantage and a 200mhz core frequency disadavantage.

Aim for around 2.8ghz, my 940 was happy with that speed and with fast memory was pushing 20GB/sec bandwidth OCCT stable.

The NB is designated as the chip containing the memory controller so actually the NB in the bios settings is actually talking about the CPU area that contains the mem controller. It is on a different clock and you get rather large gains by upping its speed. It will overtake the C2Q clock for clock if you get it to 2.8ghz.

Memory speed is correct, the timmings should be on the side of the memory modules so you can double check, also the voltage should be there as well.

The cpu speed is low due to Intel Speedstep.
