well i've enabled AHCI in bios when i installed SSD, did all the suggestions with putting in sata port 0 and disconnecting all drives. but windows didn't detect SSD when installed. i.e. it had planned defragment times.

the suspicion sparkes with this: it shows IDE hard disks. i got 2 disks installed. my vertex 2 SSD and 1 TB Western digital black 7200 rpm HDD

How is the sata controller set-up? IDE or legacy mode perhaps?

what in know my sata controller is set up in achi but un-sure. i'll check in 30 mins.

p.s.

also in windows index, i get 7.4 for HDD, while research someone said ide gets 7.4 while achi gets 7.9.

Its in ACHI mode. IDE just means integrated drive electronics, what we call IDE is really PATA, though most people know it as IDE (i call it IDE too, there was no distinction as SATA didn't exist remember?). My P6T boards see the same, the Intel RST and device manager confirm its in ACHI mode.
