I think i may have to get this game on PC now as it looks ace! It should run well on a X1900XT-X shouldnt it?

Xbox version just annoyed me.
I dunno do YOU think it will run well on the most powerful single card there is at the moment...... :p minstadave has a 1800xt you should should run a bit better

sorry to be a pain in the ass mistadave,

could you goto the dat files part of oblivion start up and get me the names of the actual mods?

or are they titled as in your list?

I have found qarls texture pack, thanks to you link lol ;)

another one you guys may want to look up is feather ring, allows you to carry a total weight of 500, you do need to work to get it though, you need to buy the house in the slums in town and have bought most of the furniture packs for it ;)

Cheers

Not sure I've installed Qarls texture files right. Should it show up in the data files list? Mine doesn't  -mind you, neither do the landscape LOD thingies.

Managed to make my Oblivion look nice & pretty but it's a bit laggy now & has just crashed :(

Might reinstall it later tonight with some selected mods....

None of the texture mods do show up as mods as they simply replace the game textures, you need to have Oblivion Mod Manager installed, see the readme that comes with the Qarl texture pack, it takes you through where to download it and which settings to set.

Some of the texture mods available here as .omod files which can be easily activated/deactivated with Oblivion Mod Manager. Makes it easier than messing with all the files.

Its a shame the tiling textures mod and Qarl textures mods use some of the same textures.

wow nice mods, will have to try some of these, have been playing the game standard up to now,

a quick diversion, need a little help with the game if anyone can help. went and fought 4 vampires and got infected with something, did not think much of it and keep playing on. Then i noticed my life drains in the sung light and have to suck blood from sleeping ppl to walk around in daylight.

anyhelp?

thanks

Might be stating the bleedin' (ho ho ho) obvious, but you're a vampire. :D I believe there's some kind of quest you can undertake to find a cure, but I don't know where you'd start, having never gone down that route myself.

I'm sure people have covered things like visual mods in the huge Oblivion thread we have in this forum, but having a nice collection of simple information and links to them in this thread is much more useful than trawling endless pages for the info. Even if perhaps that wasn't the original goal of the thread, I think everyone's got what they were after. ;) I can't wait to go try some of these mods out. My x1800xt is only the 256mb version rather than 512mb, so I hope it'll cope with the larger textures okay.

To get the vampirism out of you you will need to start the mages guid and find someone in the imperial ..erm..the place where you need to find tar-meena for the main quest line..

Arporium or something like that I can't think right now, but there should be someone in there who can get rid of the vampirism for you.

Edit: Its in the arcane University:)

I installed the mods, very lovely. Qarl's texture pack is the best of the lot, staggering amount of detail in some places! Unfortunately I won't be using it much longer, and here's why:

mem.jpg

Look at that texture memory usage! I've only got a 256mb card and 8xAF, but it won't even fit into a 512mb card! (to see that debug text, open the console and type setdebugtext 13, and then use the command tdt to show). That peak value was the result of a couple of minutes running around the countryside. Unfortunately that amount of texture mem means I get annoying stuttering when looking around, even at 60 fps. I guess moving that amount of data out of ram and to the graphics card and back again is causing it, but surely you 512mb guys must see a bit of stuttering too?

It's a shame, the game looks even better like this but the stuttering is just enough to irritate me. :(
