I might not have been thorough enough in my search, but I do not seem to be able to find an "Official FX60 overclocking" thread....

Except for my bad seaching, might it be because it is so frightfully expensive to fuddle around with? Or maybe because it is just no use, as it is basicly just a cheaper overclocked chip, and if you want to overclock you would rather buy the original and go from there?

Well no... the chip has only been on OCuK pretty recently. Don't make assumptions that it's a bad processor due to the non-existant overclocking thread - I'm sure the FX60 is pretty overclockable. There probably will be a thread soon. It's a premium buy processor type of thing, it's way over £700 and as with most overclockers here, most people buy a cheaper CPU to get those premium speeds, but I'm not speaking for everyone. ;)

Perhaps it'll be a more popular buy when the price sinks to 1/3 of what it currently is.

Like he says, it's a very expensive processor and many people prefer to go for something cheaper. No doubt it can be overclocked at least a little, and there's no reason to assume it's not great for it, but since processors costing less than £350 can often perform as well as the FX60 at stock, there are inevitably going to be relatively fewer people who want to pay so much money for the absolute most expensive of something.

To make it worthwhile buying an FX-60 you really need to have something like phase change like the Mach2 or just have a really fat wallet and no desire to overclock.

People with Water Cooling and even air cooling are hitting 2.8 to 3.0 Ghz with much cheaper CPU.

Don't get me wrong I am sure that if you want to not overclock it is worth it to an individual however to most overclockers unless hardcore this is just overpriced.

ok just my finding so far after getting FX60 few weeks back
will OC 3050mhz with only 1.35v...then after problems start
will OC to 3480mhz with vapochill ls.....but temps hitting +70c under load
but useing - DFI LanParty NF4 SLI-DR EXPERT /DFI LanParty NF4 SLI-DR verions both are rubbish
i have it set at 3318mhz atm.......i wouldnt recommend this CPU to any1
next ill try Asus mobo

sorry i keep forgetting things :))

@3318mhz @1.77v......temps on bootup are over 80c
needs 2 reboots till it gets cold enough to boot with cpu around +35c
then sits in windows at around +12c

Im no phase guru but cant you make it so the cpu is zubzero before the pc boots?

Never in a million ears would i let a chip costing so much get to 80c

And surley phase can keep the temps low at load? water would keep it cooler than 70c

well yes it set to boot at -10c....but FX60 quickly overpowers it..
but maybe DFI LanParty NF4 SLI-DR has duff temp reading can't rule that out
