Is overclocking FX60 useless?

ok set @3050mhz @1.35v...vapo reads -57c......cpu -16c +26c under full load

just dont any1 try DFI & FX60 together you'll regret it
even trying change muti from default results in u clearing cmos...darn thos DFI boys :P

yes i know i have DFI LanParty NF4 SLI-DR EXPERT /DFI LanParty NF4 SLI-DR

there great mobo.......just crap with FX60...DFi expert temps read maybe 10c cooler than they should - DFI SLI-DR reads maybe 10c hotter than it should
and flashing DFI LanParty NF4 SLI-DR EXPERT to latest FX60 bois....will results in total nightmare believe me :))

sorry i keep forgetting things :))

@3318mhz @1.77v......temps on bootup are over 80c
needs 2 reboots till it gets cold enough to boot with cpu around +35c
then sits in windows at around +12c

Mate you must have had contact with the IHS, there's no way it'd be hitting 70-80c on a vapo ls. try re-mounting, or check the IHS is flat, if not it's rma time / Make it naked :)

i still have X2 as spare pc......i just got FX60 for the fun of it :))
anyway just ordered Asus A8N32-SLi Deluxe nForce4 SLi X16...ill see how that goes
temps reading are just to crazy on DFI mobos

Well, if you want an FX-60 to overclock, you also want phase cooling.

People have been hitting 3.5-3.6GHz with FX-60s on phase.

The thing to remember is that the FX-60 has only two differences to the 4400+ and the 4800+:
1. It's hand-picked die for low temp / low voltage / high speed operation
2. It has an unlocked multiplier

It's the same core, just that due to the nature of this particular version you're likely to achieve higher stable speeds because it's the pick of the crop.

What was your cooling with the 4400+ @ 3.2GHz, 'cos that's an impressive speed?
