I'd lean toward Jellyfin if you can; no risk of that becoming pay-to-play in the futureIs Emby free fine, or do you need Premier?
Wait, Emby has a paid version?? Wow, it’s just 5 years out from being Plex thenIs Emby free fine, or do you need Premier?
For me the Plex backend works very well but the front end apps need a lot of work and are outdated.
It may also depend on whether Plex is having to transcode files. The main reason I bought an Apple TV and then Infuse was that no transcoding is required is 4K HDR, Atmos and subtitle files. In a lot of other cases (including using the Plex app on Apple TV) transcoding is required for sound and subtitles at least. Theoretically, this doesn’t have much overhead but I’d rather just plain not have any transcoding.I've found that Plex functionality/efficiency seems to vary vastly between devices. I use a Dell T20 Xeon, Win11, 32GB RAM & TBS6904 as a Plex server.
It will stream 1080P perfectly to a Pi3 (RasPlex client), but wired to an Amazon Fire TV random buffering, the same applies to other devices running Plex.
