Is she being selfish??

You haven't even moved in somewhere and there are problems already!

If she cant even take the time to view a place you rate very highly and say is the perfect place then yes she is being really selfish.

There is no harm in looking at the place, screw being an extra 10 minutes closer to your family.

If she has that mentality she isn't ready to leave home!

Good friends of mine commute ~55 and 60 miles respectively each way to work - now that's a commute.

9 miles is a decent 'bicycle commute' and 25 mins in a car is bugger all.

So I went and looked at one round here tonight and OMG - its stunning.

Its 9 miles from her place of work - about 25-35 min drive and about 20 minutes on the bus to my office - its bang on budget and has everything we both want.

Has she been smoking the crack pipe?

She's got a car, can sit back, have the radio on and be at work, presuambly door to door within 30 mins. That's nothing. She should try living and commuting in London....

You have a slightly shorter journey of 20 mins but then you have to hang about in the wind, rain and cold waiting for a bus to turn up and then fight the locals to get a seat.

And you say the house is stunning.

Makes we wonder whether her intransigence is anything to do with the house or commute at all....is she generally one of these 'inflexible' types, who always wants everything 'her way'?

If so, you might want to rethink the living together / marriage lark.....

PS. Email the link to this thread to her ;)

9 miles is not a commute, so she's clearly a nut case.

Therefore the solution is to leave her.

Its 9 more than I travel!!

Tell the cheeky mare to get a bicycle. Her arse and thighs should improve and the money saved on the 'commute' can go towards your new pool table :D

You need to set a precedent for the future of your relationship by asserting your dominance. Good luck OP :)

Right after chatting to family and friends I'm going for another look tomorrow to shake on it - just need a polite way of telling her its now or never.

Yes she is, and tell her to stfu

Tell her that if she drove properly she would be able to do that distance in less than 9 mins. :D
