Is The New Rage Patch Released Yet?

There must be something incoming.

'Also there is an update to the 12.1a Preview driver - update is for upcoming patch for Rage'

I think there is meant to be a HD textures pack coming out or something similar for Rage. Whether or not that has been canned I dont know. I hope they do make some DLC for it but its not looking promising due to the bad reviews Rage got over the game engine and texture pop in.

I went to my local best buy (think it's o.k. to mention as they closed down yesterday) on Friday and bought Rage for £4.50. I have played it for about half an hour and seems like it would be well worth the money I paid axcept for the problem I have of it just seems to not run smoothly. I have not yet looked at the actual frame rate but it just seems to look like its running at 20fps. I am running on a 6950 2GB and on 11.12 drivers so is it worth trying the 12.1 preview drivers? Are others having the same problem?

I have a 6850 and I had HUGE Rage issues to begin with. Sometimes I would get no image at all, other times I would get the blue textures bug, other times the game would crash as soon as I took 2 steps out of the hibernation pod. I solved them by downgrading all the way back to the 11.9 drivers (it may vary for you, other driver versions which lots of people on Bethesda's forums said worked fine for them didn't for me). Anyway, if the most recent drivers aren't working for you just uninstall them and start working your way back through previous versions (boot into safe mode and use driver cleaner as well, they won't get completely wiped otherwise). It's a massive hassle, I know, but it'll take you half an hour max and the game was very enjoyable, best FPS I played in a long time!

I have a 2gb 6950, with the 11.12 drivers and I get 60fps with settings maxed out it also feels really smooth. So defo something wrong your end, not sure what though

Not sure on status of RAGE patch/DLC but it seems to be on a back burner atm with most effort going into making sure the new Doom game doesn't suffer the same issues as RAGE did on launch.

On a related note Doom 4 will make use of features on AMD's 79xx cards to do stuff comparable to whats possible with CUDA transcode to increase quality and performance of mega textures: http://www.anandtech.com/show/5261/amd-radeon-hd-7970-review/6

I have Rage lined up to play soon...... I was waiting for a once-and-for-all patch/fix before starting.

Shame if thats not so.

It played fine for me with no issues at all. I think the game looks amazing as well. Like most games only some have issues and some don't. The joy of PC gaming it seems.

The game was horrible on launch - but now isn't soooo bad. I do wish we'd more options to play with though. I can't believe an I.D. software project of all people were so skimpy on Graphic Options. Oh well, the game isn't bad - I've not gotten super far but I'm enjoying what I have played.

I'm re-playing on nightmare but it's a flipping struggle because the mouse barely works in menus...is there a fix for that? I've had a look but I don't really want to up my sens to fix it.

If you google about you will find some info on how to enable even more graphic options via a txt file. No idea where I saw it but it is out there somewhere on the net :)

The only patch ID were supposed to be doing is one to alter the texture filtering method to bicubic or something but since Carmack tweeted that a few months ago its gone all quiet & now ID have laid staff off so not sure if it will ever happen as RAGE was not commercially sucessful at all & has been very cheap to buy for almost 3 months now.

A highres texture patch is very unlikely as ID claim it would be 100Gb's in size due to the unique way RAGE processes textures.

If ID had targeted PC only for the game & ported to consoles later as per their original plan they would not have gotten themselves into this mess & PC would have had this game nearly 2 years ago :(

Oh the irony of a once mighty PC only developer selling out to make multiplatform games then getting their reputation badly damaged & the console crowd did not even like their game much either as sales were poor.

Carmack probably wishes he could get on one of his rockets now & take a trip into space as he not only flushed ID rep away he sold his company/control to corporate greed :(

very well said. Developers need to realise that selling out to consoles does not automatically mean Call of duty sales. ID, Crytek etc. and more will follow I guess.

google is your friend.

RAGE was always first and foremost a platform for cutting their teeth with the texture handling technology (amonst other advancements). It'll be Doom 4 and other products using the engine that will be make or break for ID.

There was talk for awhile of Skyrim using the engine but it wasn't in any shape to handle that scale at the time development would have had to get underway for that - its quite likely that other Bethesda products will use the engine however.
