Is there a better value Android tablet out there than the Nexus 9??

Hmmmm, just had a look at the Galaxy S2 tabs - I have to say they are very nice pieces of kit!!

So light compared to what I was expecting and the screens are pin-sharp and really vivid!

Shame I couldn't compare the three though because they didn't have the Nexus 9 or Nvidia tabs there! :(

I have the Sam Galaxy Tab s2 8.0 and it's rather nice, so slick and the design/screen are fantastic. Just missing themes!

I'm currently trying to work out if its worth the extra over the K1 or not. The screen is incredible and it's so light...

I've seen it for about £250 before now, wouldn't pay more than that for it.

I am looking at the same models after dropping my hudl2 in the washing up.

Not on purpose surprisingly!

Best place for it :D:D

In fairness for the money it's not bad but never really got on with my Hudl2. I found it slow and unresponsive to touch. Decided to have a look round for something else. iPads looked OK but don't do Apple so they were ruled out from the off. I ended up getting a Samsung Galaxy Tab2 in 9.7".

Tab2 is very thin, very light with good bright display. Battery life is good and seems quite frugal on standby. No quick charge 2 so charging not that fast. Touch is very responsive and no lag what so ever. Touchwiz isn't intrusive really and yet to install Nova Launcher. The 4:3 aspect ratio is good for reading, browsing, mags etc but for watching films you end up with black bands top and bottom which could be an issue to some. To me the advantages outweigh this. Speakers are at one side too instead of having them at either side but aren't too bad considering the size. Don't expect too much from them. All told I really like it but it is on the expensive side.

Yep, had a look at them and the screens are certified crispy :D
You can also have splitscreen apps - lets you have 2 apps on screen at the same time, not sure if the other tabs can do that but its handy.

Seems not much stock of the nexus 9 around?

Our use is 60% internet browsing, shopping and 40% streaming media from NAS. No gaming.

Would Nexus 9 or Shield be better?

£230 is max budget

I'd say it largely depends on whether you prefer the 4:3 or 16:10 aspect ratio - from what I gather the Nexus is the better for general internet browsing but the Shield better suited to watching videos etc.

I did see a benchmark that suggests the Nexus is by far the faster device but then some reviews seem to suggest that this benchmark is largely dependent upon the same tasks being done over and over rather than it being a "real-world" environment like opening multiple app's etc.

I have to say I'm having the same problem - just not sure which one is best to go for! (mind you, as you say there doesn't seem to be many Nexus devices around at a reasonable price so that might make the decision for me!)

I'm waiting to gain access to members market. I want to sell my Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 but can't access t until I reach 1000 posts even though I've been active since 2006.

Shield is more for gaming. Nexus 9 was £150 just last week, no idea if it will drop again, it probably will though.

Where was it £150?

I know it was on offer at 180 a couple of weeks ago and there were some cashback offers but all seem to have finished now. I have reserved one at 190 but will wait till tomorrow incase.

not any more but I found one left to reserve at 190 and picking it up in an hour. Wont open it though in case any weekend deals.

Reserved one of the 9.7" S2's at £299 but will still see if there are any better deals tomorrow!

The reviews on the S2 aren't that spectacular though - the Expert Reviews one compares it to the Air 2 and the Nexus 9 and in terms of benchmarks it doesn't fare overly well!?!?!

Seemed smooth as silk when I had a quick mess about with one in the shop the other day!
